Just bought this second hand when pressing power and volume up get menu saying

android system recovery(3e)
android system recoveryutility

check hardware
apply sd card : update.zip
wipe data/ factory reset
wipe cache partition
reboot system now
Has this got clockwork on already and if i check hardware it says.
1 soundcard ok
2 touchscreen error
3 camera error
4 g sensor error
5 wifi ok
6 rtc ok
7 sd card exist ok
8 otg exist ok

could someone tell me how to install and direct me to clockwork for this tablet and to the official rom and maybe custom roms please

If you bought this second-hand then it may no longer have the original os installed.
Judging by the list of errors you have indicated it sounds like it is a bit up the wall.
If it is available through recovery, try doing a factory re-set (you may lose your apps) and see if that sorts it out.
I hope you didn't pay too much for it as the new Essential is no longer telechips but sports the more powerful and flash friendly A10 allwiner cortex a8 processor.

You could try contacting Storage Optiions and see if they will send you a copy of the origfinal firmware - they have done with some requests (but not all)

Thank you for that, ive got a android phone and looking at this i suspect someone has put a phone rom on this tablet. Ive contacted Storage Options and they did send me a firmware update but not the full firmware so im still stuck as anyone got the original firmware please.

I fear this may be too old, I see your call for help on Phandroid didn't get much response either.
It is just possible someone out there does have a workng rom for it ?
I know that one of our members "Piers" managed to get ICS sort-of working on a telechips Essential but I believe he had touchscreen driver issues cause the rom provided for capacitive not resistive. Have a look at this thread and see if you can glean anything from it. It is a bit old now so I don't know if the links are still alive or broken.viewtopic.php?f=63&t=2684

EDIT I just realised this is not for the Telechips model but have a look anyway you may get a few tips.

Yes ive read through that thank you i think this could brick the tablet and as im really not very good on comp or hacking id get lost i only did my phone with a step by step work through and i mean step by step told me everything that would happen and exactly what to do and what the phone would do even then i was sweating once i got clockwork on i was fine, if i could do that with this tablet im sure id be ok its just this is for the new essential im sure mine is the old one and some links are broken the cwm one is anyway thanks anyway.

Not sure how close this might be to your telechips Essential. http://www.You would need to find a working CWM to try it but if your tab is working of sorts you might be best off not totally bricking it.

I just translated that page a bit more and it is just a camera update, sorry.

Its fine at least you tried to help me thank you very much i really appreciate it, i was brought up by my grandparents who instilled in me to say please and thank you as it costs nothing, i have done the same with my two sons and everybody who says anything to me always comments on how polite they are its a pity more people don`t do this.

You will need to do quite a lot of reading I think (I just scanned this) but it does mention your tablet by name.
Unfortunately not everything is working on this rom but it does have enough to use the tablet.
