Some say yes and some say no and some say there is insufficient hardware inside the device to even come close to using it as a Global positioning device by satellite (Wifi maybe GPS not likely) there is also this discussion thread: viewtopic.php?f=64&t=2858&p=22982&hilit=Dongles#p22982 however, this is for internet over 3G. I don't believe anyone has yet found a way of using any tablet for GPS unless it is sold as a GPS device as you need to have the satellite receiver and maps information before you can even think about it.

At the risk of being contentious while I agree the Elite can't hack it easily the new Extreme II should be able to - the missing link is Bluetooth. I have a similar tablet with Bluetooth that connects to a separate GPS receiver (a small box with no display) that I originally bought for my Nokia phone. It will position Google maps correctly, the only issue is that of having the maps available if you are out of range of Wi-Fi. I can overcome this using a Mi-Fi unit if I'm away from home or another fixed HotSpot.

I'm not sure if the Open Street map app allows downloading of map tiles, I did have it on my Elite but stopped using it when the Elite went back.

A typical Bluetooth GPS receiver can be found at http://www.amazon.com/GlobalSat-BT-368i ... p_redirect this one also seems to have a USB interface so perhaps it will work with an Elite
