A few questions

The mother in-law has given me her scroll to sort out.

I've never used one before, but have rooted other android devices in the past (although it's been a while!).

Anyway, really I just want to be able for the device to play 720p mkv's (Which I thought it would do out the box?) but doesn't seem to like any I've put on it. I guess I'd like that and the "proper" market place. I understand there are guides for these so will follow them.

Once I've done this though and returned it, is there anyway of preventing the device from updating or any restrictions caused by the fact it's going to be rooted (i:e with the google account etc)?

Well I'm a bit stumped regarding video. According to the site it should play out of the box. I've had a look around and tried Mvideoplayer to play these files, which are all standard 720p mkv container files - and none of them work I just get the error message "sorry this video cannot be played".

Any ideas please?
