How to add Predictive Text

Postby pete284 » January 8th, 2012, 3:30 pm

After searching around on various forums I've found out how to add predictive text to Scroll Excel, ideal for writing those emails:

1) Install "User Dictionary Manager for Android" from marketplace

2) Get this list of words and save as a text file (remember to keep file name under 8 letters): http://ubuntuone.com/p/19kn/

3) Put the Text file into SD card or use dropbox to get it on your device, and import it via User Dictionary Manager.

The list has about 2400 words/short combinations and should only take a minute or two to import into your user dictionary. You will need to delete the first line of the file, which states where it was compiled from.

If you want to add more words, add them to the list yourself.

Hi, you could also install Swype (free download off of its website), its absolutely brilliant once you get used to and 99% of the time gets the correct word.

Thanks for the tip, but I don't like that one - I have always used the gingerbread (hacked version) in OS 2.2 - I did not realise that in OS 2.3.4 the predictive text was broken, I think this has been fixed in the 2.3.6 update.

I see what that app does now, I was going to import that list to the user dictionary database using the SQL Lite app - but the app you suggested is much easier, thanks again. Also looks like when you have imported the list you can remove that app, to save space, if needs be.
