I too am really enjoying watching your blog unfold Charlie.

forrrge is right, a test of some more serious (and useful / intreresting?) apps might be worth trying.

Google Sky Map:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.stardroid&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5nb29nbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5zdGFyZHJvaWQiXQ.. This is a great app, but I'm still seeing things differently on the Excel as opposed to my GPS equipped phone... I now see the same area of sky, but the orientation is 90 degrees different. Have you got an Android phone? Do you see any differences between the two?

GPS Essentials
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mictale.gpsessentials&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5taWN0YWxlLmdwc2Vzc2VudGlhbHMiXQ.. I haven't exhausted all the set up options, but this one works great on the phone, but doesn't seem to do anything on the Excel.

Cheers for the review Charlie and like you I was one of the original Scroll owners, but sadly I had to sell it to my brother in law late last year, (moved to the dark side with my iPad), but I really miss the tweaking that can be done on these little tabs and, the form factor is a little easier to sneak into work Ahem !.
Thinking of getting one now, according to the Scroll website they will be released mid February can I ask where you got yours from.

Morning all :)

Ok, finally got to play with my new toy

Its a hell of a lot better than the 1st Gen Scroll....for the money it cant be beaten! Ive only had it on about half an hour and im already busily trying to remove all the useless crap off it.

Ill do a better write-up later today when ive had more time to play, but my first impressions are good.
Dave

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

hey Charlie, how did you mod it to allow the extra market apps?

this blog is really good as you know what you are doing and are willing to have a go with things. are you going to have a play with the phone files, maybe freezing them with titanium like i want to do but am a bit worried about doing because i don't have your expertise?

Thanks,

I am writing a 'How to' on the mod for extra market apps. I will be doing the phone mod too - Just been busy last week and the build.prop mod took longer than expected as the Excel needed more than the usual changes.
