Scroll Excell worked 5min then died

Postby scrolly » January 19th, 2012, 6:24 pm

Hi,

I've just received my new Scroll Excel. Of course I've decided to try it first and then leave it to charge overnight. So I turned it on, then I've setup the connection to my router, opened the browser went to check an internet site, then when I pressed on a link to open it, the screen dimmed and the picture became fuzzy and the tablet had frozen. I held the power off button until it turned off, but then when I tried to turn it on again, it wouldn't turn on anymore :(

I've hooked it up to the mains, I thought maybe the battery died, although it was showing as fully charged while it worked. It's been charging for over an hour now and nothing happens, the screen is off - is this normal? Shouldn't it show at least a battery icon so you know it's charging?

I also tried to hold volume up button and the power button as some people suggested on this forum, but nothing happens :(

Please help, I'm very dissapointed, because I had the chance to use it for 2 minutes and it's brand new :|

There is no batterry indicator while powered of, I would give it 6 hours min of charging before doing any
thing.

Try holding the power button and the Menu button - Press the power button for at least 5 seconds whilst pressing the menu button, then release the power button whilst keeping hold of the menu button, until it boots into recovery - It might not doe this but it's worth a try)

Hopefully this will get you in to the recovery menu, where you can do a factory reset. Failing that use the end of a paper clip and gently put in in the 'Reset' hold at the bottom of the Excel, near the USB port.

Will try when I get home :)

As far as the reset button goes, I already tried pressing it, holding it, but nothing happens. Should I press also some other button or just that reset?

Make sure it is plugged in properly, I had trouble with the plug it was not fully flush with the socket and did not charge.
Also check the power supply.

I've checked the power supply, it works fine, but since it doesn't show if it's charging or not I can not be really sure that it's actually charging, maybe the socket is faulty :? Does it show at least something for like a fraction of a second when you plug it in?

Alternatively, I'll try to charge via USB socket although it's very slow to charge that way.

I've tried, nothing happened

Does it charge over USB when it's turned off? My PC doesn't show that it's connected...

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!
