Scroll firmware upgrade issue

Postby grumpyoldgit » January 23rd, 2012, 1:49 am

I have a 7" Scroll with firmware v1.01 and am attempting to upgrade from the Storage Options site. They do not indicate which is the current version but the contents of the zip file suggests it is 1.02.

The file itself is called scroll-gen1.zip but following the instructions the upgrade file cannot be found. However, the instructions indicate that the file should be called update.zip. On changing the name of the file I now get

Install from sdcard
Finding update package ...
Opening update package ...
Verifying update package ...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

so presumably the changed file name is correct.

I have deleted the file and downloaded it again but am still getting the same message.
Any ideas?

Hi

Exactly which 7" version do you have? (resistive / capacitive screen etc)
Dave

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

@grumpyoldgit - It sounds like you have the 1st gen Scroll - Have you made any modifications to it, like changing the build.prop and/or adding Clockworkmod to it?

If not, it seems that maybe Storage Options have not signed the .zip properly and/or made the zip wrong, so you would need to contact them for help.

P.S. It does look like they have put the update.zip in too deep (I am not completely sure tho') like so:

scroll-gen1.zip>7in102.zip>update.zip
" Just because you could, doesn't mean you should. "
