I have just dumped all blocks a-h onto my pc -

nandh - is the largest one I have at 2.11GB - I wonder if that is the internal memory (SDCARD) mnt/sdcard

P.S. - I had a thought on the info in recover.cpio, I wonder if recovery needs its own version of a build.prop to boot into recovery, hence why that information is there for recovery, whereas the other build.prop in /system/ is for when you boot into the main OS.

Installed ICS and lost CWM Recovery...

I think I know why that is - that version of ICS -changes the nand blocks around recovery is NOT nandf any more and the CWM5 script works on the path to nandf

NOTE: The list below is NOT for the Excel with OS 2.3.4

nanda is bootloader area, vfat(same as GB ROM) but u-boot is loaded instead of linux kernel.
nandb is u-boot environment.
nandc is boot.img
nandd is /system
nande is /data
nandf is empty(maybe misc partition?)
nandg is recovery.img
nandh is /cache
nandi is internal NAND area (usually mounted as SD card on stock ROM)

NOT 100% sure if this is the ROM you flashed - but it shows that the structure has changed to what the Excel was, as someone with an Excel has flashed this rom (v0.3 ICS ROM for NOVO7A)

Hi Mitre

Just getting ready to put CWM5 on the Excel - How can I check to see if I have busybox or not?

make sure you have a working version of busybox on your excel
v1.18.3 and v1.17.1 are known to work

Cheers

EDIT: P.S. - Never realised that you could use z-zip to extract the contents of recovery.cpio, to view the files inside. Just tried it now and the build.prop info I have been talking about in it, is actually the default.prop for the recovery partition.

yes i use 7zip and as long as the files not too big (i.e a rom) you can open an archive and veiw everthing inside the archive without extracting anything usefull for not filling up your C: drive thats why i asked the other day how you unpack a .img i was trying to get inside a rom and 7zip culd not open an archive
in treminal
Code: Select all
su
busybox

it will show you the version you have and a list of functions

Just out of interest, say I want to put the stock recovery (nandf) back, is this easy to do?

Would it be a case of doing just the reverse of getting nandf?

EDIT:- Update - Thanks Mitre for the 'How to' get CWM5 onto the Excel and thanks to fun (over on xda) for CWM5 for the Excel. I have just installed it and made a backup - Very happy :D
