Invalid Argument mate.
My better-half wants me to run a errand, so I'll get 20 minutes break from staring at the god-damn balloon :(

Damn,

When you get back try this:

When the excel is on the balloon screen, type in cmd window

adb reboot recovery

Watch the excel screen - it may or may not go into the recovery screen (it does not matter), or just back to the balloon. Either way now try the commands from just the 'how to'

(The above adb command, I had to use when my excel was in a boot-loop - to allowed me to push back a stock file to the system that I messed up)

OK I'm back.
Tried the reboot recovery command. The Excel rebooted, and got stuck again at the Balloon. Tried to push the file again, but still got the read only error message :(

I can get into recovery, by using the Power and menu button, but not from ADB

Stupid question.
Would it be possible to use LiveSuite that was used to flash the ICS image to the excel?

Oh sorry to hear that, /data/ should be rw anyway, why it is not - I don't know. see if you have busybox on, do:

Code: Select all
adb shell
su
busybox

Post what it says, please. - You say that you can manually get into recovery, do that and try the 'how to' adb commands again in there.

I guess so, but only for the ICS rom (AFAIK) as the GB backups we have are different and need CWM5 - We do have the nand dumps for the 8 nand blocks form the Excel, but how you would get them on - I don't know.

Right then.

By typing mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/nandd /
It mounts correctly.
I have pushed install-recovery.sh to /data
Run Chmod
But when trying to push recovery.cpio it shows no space left on device.
This is nuts

Hi
sorry to hear all this so where are we at
Code: Select all
cmod 755 /data/install-recovery.sh

should make the file executable
but also i think (not 100%) that you can rename the my clean cwm recovery img to update.zip put it on sdcard boot into recovery and update

WHEN DO WE WANT IT?

Yes mate the above has been done.
But it moans about no space left on device for the main file recovery.cpio.
Wouldn't I need CWM5 recovery already installed for your method mate?
(renaming to update.zip)
