It shows This app is incompatible with your Samsung Nexus S. (PC Android Market).
This of course may be completely normal with Nexus.

This app is incompatible with your Samsung Nexus S.
The app is called "Motion Girl"

Cheers.

It might be incompatible completely with a Nexus S - or there is something that I need to add/change to get live wallpapers added - if you look at Koi Free Live Wallpaper - it says not compatible, yet it works as it's pre-loaded on the Excel. I will try to look into this further.

UPDATE: (This does not show 'motion girl' as compatible)

If you want more access to live wallpapers (not all tho') put this file in /system/etc/permissions/ - See part 2 of the 'How To' for details.

I am considering (with massive amounts of caution) to do this to my Excel.

Iv'e read the instructions and can I please ask, the following line -

"2. Scroll down to 'Home Directory' & change this to /"

Does this mean change the 'Home Directory' to '/', as in rename it to a forward slash?

Yes rename with an /

So you start to browse the file system from the root

On windows it would be c:\ but in Android it is /

@Charlie - This is a great 'How To'... thank you for all the hard work (and frustration) that went into developing it.

Mindful of poor @blueeagle69's experience over the weekend (with Busybox not your modification), I am cautious about making any changes to my Excel that will take it away from its factory setup.

If I run into trouble is your mod reversible? Unlike Clockworkmod (which requires installation) I'm presuming that your mod 'simply' replaces the build.prop with your revised version and (optionally) adds some permissions files.

So the route back to factory spec is to replace the modded build.prop with the original and to remove the additional permissions files. Would that be correct?

Thanks

@ Excel, thank you for your kind words.

That is correct, delete the new permission files that where added and replace the modified build.prop with the original one. However with the latter, you have to take caution, just like when doing the 'how to' - You MUST make sure that the original file is named as build.prop and the permissions are correct for it.

So that would be the changes made by following the 'how to' reversed.

@Charlie - Thanks and also for the warning about folder permissions... I notice that making a copy of 'build.prop' and renaming it to 'build.prop.old' changed the permissions of the newly copied file from 'rwx r-- r--' to 'rw- rw- rw-'. This is something to be wary of when restoring a backed up file... I know you warn of the dangers of not getting the folder permissions correctly assigned.

Hey thanks for this entire thread, now.. I have followed every instruction 'correctly' but I'm getting the whole 'market server error' problem? If anyone can help me out with this, thanks!

I have the Scroll Excell 7" 3D

Edit: It still doesn't work but on the web version of the android market it recognizes the tablet as the Samsung Nexus S.

Yep, the market app can be a bit stubbon, just do part 3 of the 'How To' again, it might take a few goes.

That is normal, this is what the new build.prop does - gives the Excel an ID of a Nexus S

Sorry for the late response to this post. It seems my notifications got lost somewhere.
I will try this, thanks.
