Where is the default wallpaper kept in the file system?

Postby davefk » January 29th, 2012, 1:54 pm

Hi Everyone

I did search the forums before asking this question.

Just bought a Scroll Excel and I am really enjoying the device. I really liked the default blue bubble wallpaper but when I was trying out other wallpapers, I can't find the blue bubble one again. I have FTP'd into the device to root level but can't find it. Any ideas of where it is on the system, or where I can download it again from? Its sad I know, out of the millions of wallpapers availiable I like the Scroll Excel default one :-)

Thanks
davefk

Hi & welcome to the forum,

Go to the following directory:

system/framework/framework-res.apk

then view framework-res.apk

res/drawable/default_wallpaper.jpg

Extract default_wallpaper.jpg out

or download here

Thanks for supplying the stock wallpaper. I finally know what the best resolution is to use. All other wallpapers I have tried have lost definition when displaying on the Excel and look, quite-frankly pants. But when I found one matching the resolution of the stock one, it looks stunning.
So I will be resizing my wallpapers to match the stock one :)

@buleeagle69 - Nice one, yep some do look rubbish, I think that because they are for smaller screen sizes, so get expanded when on the Excel - Just changed mine to a minimalist black patterned wallpaper, I think it looks very sleek, with the icon set I am using too.

That's exactly the type I used.
This is my current fave.

Here's a nice blue one I found which is not too distracting as a wallpaper. http://db.tt/FmEc02EB

No worries. It's nice and simple design, looks great on my Excel with the "gingerbread green" icon set I am using too.
