I'm sure this is a silly question but . . . . why is it that some web sites respond to 'pinch zoom' and others don't? Sometimes sites that did respond eg Sky News now don't. I'm sure the answer is obvious but . . .?

Maybe I can answer my own question - would it be right to say that pinch/zoom only works on full sites - not mobile versions?

I think it works on both.

Mmmm - it doesn't on mine - or I should say pinch/zoom doesn't work on some web sites but works on others. Can't see that it's a problem with the tab - I bet there is a simple treason for it?

Maybe, it's just the way the websites are coded and/or a browser issue. Take a look at the SO website via your Excel, I can not even move normally around on the web page, let alone pinch/zoom. (Note: This is when I access the site via the stock browser on my Excel, not tried with a different browser.)

It's caused by the site.
I have tested Sky News on the stock browser, and my default Dolphin HD.
As the page already seems to be formatted. I think it decides that zoom is not required. And is readable by default.
When you go to Sky News on the stock browser, the site defaults to a Touch layout.

Hi - thanks for the replies - I've tested quite a few sites and found the same as blueeagle - it is site dependant, sky news mobile will not zoom, it will in the browser. Charlie - I've been on the SO web site and I can navigate it normally with no issues and it zooms

I can navigate the SO site, but not from the link I posted, which is the one from the banner ad at the top of the forum. Strange.

Ahh - sorry, didn't try it from the posted link, I have now and it is a bit weird. In landscape mode nothing seems to work but if you wait awhile then it becomes live and you can navigate as normal - if I go thro the link and I'm in portrait mode then the site is live straight away - twilight zone
