@blueeagle69 - No worries, be interesting as to what you find out. I am not looking any further into the live wallpaper issue (sorry), as I have all the apps that run them on the Excel removed. Personally I think they look great but I would rather not use them as they are just a memory/cpu/battery drain.

Agreed mate.
They are great for a quick look, but you wouldn't want to keep em.
My battery is bad enough now, since running Wake Timer. This is the only app I have found that will keep my email notifications workings when the Excel is a sleep. And I've tested a few :-)

I was checking live wallpapers for compatibility (Not that I really want to run live wallpapers), but can you check this your end, when you get 5 minutes please Charlie.
It shows This app is incompatible with your Samsung Nexus S. (PC Android Market).
This of course may be completely normal with Nexus.

This app is incompatible with your Samsung Nexus S.
The app is called "Motion Girl"

Cheers.

It might be incompatible completely with a Nexus S - or there is something that I need to add/change to get live wallpapers added - if you look at Koi Free Live Wallpaper - it says not compatible, yet it works as it's pre-loaded on the Excel. I will try to look into this further.

UPDATE: (This does not show 'motion girl' as compatible)

If you want more access to live wallpapers (not all tho') put this file in /system/etc/permissions/ - See part 2 of the 'How To' for details.

Hey Charlie.
Just an update for you concerning some live wallpapers.
Copying that file to /system/etc/permissions does indeed fix the "not compatible" message with some live wallpapers :)
I just re-tried that Wallpaper, and it showed up on Android Market on the Excel, and of course, showed up on the web Android Market.

hi i did charlies mod inc the permissions all went well then treid to change some of the build prop to show as samsung GS2 so that the sky go app may work. also added a couple of files to permissions from my GS2 however got into a bootloop its probably the board in build.prop that is causing the bootloop as i changed from crane to GT_I9100 Charlie spent a long time getting this right and i know he tested some S2 settings but for now alas we have no sky go
still i got a Nexus S for now

Are you sure it was because of the board chnage? (i.e. ro.product.board=) as it is normally the ro.product.device= that causes the bootloop, set the latter like this:-

Code: Select all
ro.product.device=GT-I9100;crane-evb

or

Code: Select all
ro.product.device=crane-evb;GT-I9100

Not sure which is the better way around, but both work AFAIR

P.S.

The board should be like so:-

Code: Select all
ro.product.board=GT-I9100
" Just because you could, doesn't mean you should. "

OK - Don't forget to do "Part 3 of 3 - Clearing Data & Cache" again after changing the build.prop
