Teach me Ubunto

having recently installed Linux Ubunto ont my laptop i am eager to learn to use its full potential if anyone out there is a Linux user wiling to help out a newb please feel free to throw advice at me
currently struggling to get Android devices to show up in Eclipse

Mitre - if you're struggling to get devices to show up in Eclipse, wait until the moon passes the sun and hopefully you'll be able to see better.

I am not sure if it will help,but, I have observed the following when connecting my Scroll Excel to Linux. I have just tried to connect to my Linux Mint PC and I had to change my Scroll Excel to "Turn On USB Storage" from an Icon that appeared in the top left of the Scroll. I was then able to see the following
- Media on my inserted SD-card
- Items on the internal SD

So I was able to see the same number of directories as if I had run the default Android File Browser. I could not see the main android file system of the Scroll, but, I have not made any low level changes to allow access to that area.

I will try and download Ubuntu and Eclipse, then, test it on that later today.

I have loaded Ubuntu 11.10 on a spare PC and it does the same as on Linux Mint. Only 2 Filesystems are loaded and they appear in the left hand side of the screen as USB stick icons. The internal SD is shown as "MID" and the plugin SD card as "8Gb File system" (which is the size of the SD card inserted so is probably the volume name of the card).

I am not sure how to make the main system directory structure visible to the Linux PC, I suspect it will need some tool on the Scroll that will allow sharing over the USB connector (Terminal IDE maybe). I have just been given the go ahead to upgrade my network (NAS/Gigabit Switches), so I am afraid that the Eclipse download will have to wait until a bit later.

I've found ubuntu really usefull I have even used it to rescue my data from my broken windows os using the live cd
Ubuntu is really good usually easy to install and finds all my hardware but android devices don't seem to work so well with it ?.

I have been looking at the raspberry pi this new device comes with Fedora so I am going to concentrate my attention on that for the mo but I should think it will be possible to port ubuntu to this device I am a great supporter of linux as you can see.

I am really really dissapointed in android my brief experience with it has been negative I have the scroll 7" resistive android 2.1 it is a good tablet but underdeveloped and not supported by the manufacturer I spent £129 on this device and it is obselete I'm not a happy bunny lol and no happy developments expected with this machine.
(I love to tinker).

I'm going for the Rasberry Pi it has that excitement that I had when I got my zx spectrum brilliant and started a revolution in computing It's a must have and carrying linux with it perfect for future development.
I can't wait to blow my first raspberry lol.

I have just tried plugging Sroll into a Windows Vista PC. It shows 3 drives and 2 are accesible (Internal SD and Plugin SD card), the 3rd Vista could not find a Driver for the device called Android. I guess it is the "Android" device that you would want to see in Ubuntu.
