I would have thought that it is down to the app in question, because in system settings, it is classed as a tablet now.
Navigate to system settings/Wireless and and networks/more (I think).
And have a look there.
There are so-many more options in ICS.

Been there - if you look Mobile is still showing and you have the mobile network bars at the bottom status bar - if you go into airplane mode it removes the mobile network bars.

Seems the phone.apk and others are still in the /system/apps folder so must still be loading them.

This is based on the latest ICS build at the beginning of this post

Yes you are quite correct :)
The phone.apk etc is there for a 3G dongle.

These can be removed (I did it on 2.3). But as always, caution is the best policy.

i really cant see the point in removing the phone apps as it was only done to save battery and thats fine on this rom??

I agree with Mitre on this.
I won't be removing the phone apps on ICS.

I may even buy a cheapo chinese dongle.

I most likely will remove the phone.apk and/or do a tweak.

Could you guys check to see in the "web google play" under my orders & devices>devices> what (if any) is shown as the network operator (Carrier) for the Excel with ICS?

TIA

First off thanks for all the amazing advice in this thread. I've gone from knowing nothing to knowing just about enough to be dangerous.

Second, has anyone got anywhere with getting more access to the marketplace or whatever its called now. Just tried to get cut the rope and angry bird (I know saddo) but they say not compatible. I tried pushing the last build.prop that was posted in the thread but didn't make a difference (I cleared my marketplace data and cache).
