[ICS] Fix for Market, Camera, SdCard, Calender

Postby suggsy89 » March 20th, 2012, 12:14 am

Well, firstly i would like to thank you guys for all the feedback for ICS

I have been working on some initial fixes, i know some of you are frustrated regarding the Market on ICS.

So this should cure some "bugs" (not my fault) :D

I wont go into detail on how to do this... Those of you reading this should know how to.

Do a backup first!

Ideally this should be done after an initial flash of ICS firmware

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have removed all previous builds now, they are obsolete, please use "Latest Build" unless you would like to use Alternative Build" which has a modified boot.img so that apps see the SdCard as the default storage.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flash zips via Clockwork Mod Recovery
Then "wipe cache" from Clockwork Mod Recovery
Reboot
You also may need to a full factory reset
To get the full benifit of the update, a full wipe is required, sign into google account via calender to enable sync.

Latest Build

Download >>>> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4364278/Excel/ICS/crane-evb_unsigned_041712_173849.zip

Tested by user "Pobble" feedback was good.

If you have apps that you would like to install with this, just put them in the data/app folder.

    Built on previous update
Apps will see Internal Storage as default storage
Still has Samsung Galaxy S fingerprint (Market Fix by moderator Charlie)
Includes a New Kernel (Stock CPU Speed now 1.2ghz)
Increased system storage by removing reference to "preinstall" folder
    Added "data/apps" folder
Some updated GAPPS includes Google Play Store (not all)
Includeds location fix in google maps (project started by user blueeagle69)
    New default wallpaper
    Some other stuff, cant remember

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alternative Build
Download >>>> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4364278/Excel/ICS/crane-evb_unsigned_040612_222901.zip
    As above
Apps will see External SdCard as default storage

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming Soon

Camera Fix

Download >>>>
No major changes, no need to wet your pants over this
    New libs for camera
    New camera.apk

I tried the market fix, I'll try the next ones soon.
Zoom fix works.
Still need to test street view/maps
The facebook app doesn't appear anywhere for me?

Excellent job suggsy!

Oddly enough.
With the i9100 build.prop. Facebook has always shown as compatible.
Weird.
All we need now is a Camera framerate fix :)
Great work :)

Zoom does indeed now work on camera. But selecting any of the albeit pointless effects crashes the camera.

With the maps fix. Is it supposed to know your location based on WIFI as usual? Because this doesn't seem to be working on ICS.
Maps and street view seem to run fine :)

No mate. You didn't mislead me. I was just hoping that it had suddenly started working :)
I have got a NetworkLocation.apk from an ICS build I plan to have a a play with.
I restored the Titanium backup of NetworkLocation.apk from 2.3. This does show that it's running now, and using cache. But still no joy in Maps.
Will have a play with the .apk I got earlier.
Some people seem to think that this function was blocked by Google in Chinese leaks of ICS.
For some weird reason, I am not getting emails now,to be informed of forum posts :(

Hi Suggsy.
Just to inform people that after flashing these zips via CWM, you will have to re-edit the file /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml. And put <group gid="media_rw" /> below the line WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Otherwise apps such as DirectoryBind will stop working :)
