Where / How to download films (legally)

Postby Edmundblackadder » March 27th, 2012, 1:42 pm

I have tried various methods of ripping dvd's that I own to put on my tablet. Some have worked perfectly others less so. I had dvdfab on my computer for a number of years, I used it for my sons psp, which was brilliant but that seems not to work anymore, yes I could buy it but you get used to free software and I begrudge paying for it. I have now thought about looking at this from a different angle. With music you rarely buy the cd anymore, most people simply download an album onto their computer and transfer it onto whatever device you use. Is the same method available for films?

I am aware that there are various torrent sites but these are generally illegal downloads and I don't want to receive a letter from the FBI at some stage in the future.

If anyone can suggest a site with the above available then it would be appreciated.

Seriously, we all know you cannot download them legally unless you pay for them.

I did a quick Google Search, you could try this site...

MOD EDIT:- Link removed.

You are probably right on the nose Charlie - I just checked again and neither of the 2 sites you removed fom my post have any form of valid cerificate. Norton reports outon as OK but does have a question mark for the other one.

Going back to the opening post, DVDFab still works fine for me. Maybe you just need to download the latest free version? It soon goes out of date if you don't.

Link

Extracted VOBs converted to x264/HE-AAC MP4s with MediaCoder Full Edition using my custom profile play back just fine on a Scroll Essential and still look pretty good upscaled to a 32" Full-HD TV via the Scroll's HDMI port. The settings chosen convert to an output file size of 10MB per minute, so roughly 30 full-length feature films fit onto a 32GB microSDHC card. Have fun! ;)

@Trashcooky - No worries. The 2nd site link I removed, looks good and has 60 day money back **cough** guarantee, seems a scam from more investigation. You pay your money and then find the site you have access to is not as great and the content is only 50 films dating from 1973-2009 (basically rubbish and unknown films, all could be legal??? ) but anyway people see that it is very poor value for money, and try to get their money back but do not get anywhere.
