I feel I should repay the help I’ve had from this forum with my own review of the Extreme. I ordered this on 7th April with free delivery for £189.99 and it arrived 14th April. It was DOA but it took me until 15th April to ascertain this. I jumped through the Ebuyer returns hoops on that day and it was collected on 16th April. The replacement arrived 23rd April by which time the price had dropped to £179.99 leaving me a little peeved. Over the next 36 hours I spent a lot of time with it and grew to be quite impressed. The screen was lovely and whilst I didn’t manage to get the ITV player and iplayer working I was confident, given the time that I would be able to get it to do everything I wanted it to do. I did get it to run Wi-Fi from my phones mobile hotspot, and join my work network via citrix. The keyboard was responsive and games such as Angry Birds ran smoothly. I didn’t experience the speaker buzz some complain of. On the evening of 25th it stopped working. It was unresponsive to the start button and attempts to charge. I reported this on 28th and it was picked up on 30th April. My refund was made the following week. In summary, I believe that this has the capacity to be a great value tablet but there seem to be major concerns in quality control and I could not trust another unit not to give up on life after a short period of life. Ebuyer may not be the most speedy of retailers but they are polite and professional and I wouldn’t feel worried about purchasing from them again. I would however be careful to purchase items with a proven reputation. To anyone considering buying one of these models I would warn that there is a good chance you may have to kiss more than a few frogs before you find your Prince or Princess.
