New Extreme - Unresponsive

Postby Stuuk » April 10th, 2012, 1:02 pm

Hi all, I received my extreme today and charged it for about an hour before turning it on to have a quick look.
After ten minutes or so the device appeared to turn off without any warning or notification (it was not plugged into the wall socket at the time, but when it was the battery charging indicator was active)

I've had it charging again for about three hours now but it still won't turn on - the charger is warm but the tablet itself is cold. Am I just being too impatient? Beginning to worry that it might be a faulty unit.
As far as I can see there's no indicator on the device itself to show that it's receiving power.

i dont have access to an etreme but the excell has no visible charging indicater someone posted it took eight hours to fully charge but saying that you should be able to use it with a part charged battery it does sound like a problem im affraid turning on you normally have to long press the buttton say 1 second rather than just a click thats on Excel anyway

WHEN DO WE WANT IT?

Yeah I've tried 3-second presses, but nothing happens.
The tablet worked fine for the ten minutes I had it turned on.
I'm wondering if it might be just the charger that's broken, though it appeared to be charging normally earlier.

If it doesn't turn on by later tonight I'll submit a support/return request to Ebuyer... :/

Try sticking a pin in the reset hole on back. This probably achieves the same as a battery removal...

Yeah I tried that but it didn't seem to do anything.
I pressed and held for about 5 seconds and then tried to boot it but no dice.

It's packaged up now waiting for collection tomorrow back to ebuyer.

Right, sounds like a dodgy unit. I could not find any info in the instruction manual about the reset button.. one assumes you just have to just press it! Hope your 2nd unit is better should you get one...

Me too :)
Have told ebuyer to replace it rather than refund, will see how long that takes.

I know your one is being returned for replacement so this probably won't be of use now - sorry. However for others that might have this issue try changing via the USB (I am guessing it can be as the other SO tablets can be - Just I don't have an Extreme to confirm) and remember it takes at least twice as long to charge via USB (well it does on the Excel anyway)

This would help rule out whether or not the mains power adapter is the issue or it is a fault on the tablet.

It might also be useful to take note if the charging icon is animated as it should be when charging.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Hi,
Just a qestion for people who bought a Scroll Extreme from eBuyer. Did you receive a factory sealed box or an open box? I am asking this because my last scroll I bought from ebuyer came in an opened box and it was not sealed! So I suspect it was a customer return!
Today i will be nice to all the people that i meet regardless of their attitude towards me!
No day is so bad it can't be fixed with a nap!
