Downloading from Play Store

Postby drkarnivore » April 11th, 2012, 10:27 am

Hya,

Does anyone know if you should be able to download apps directly from the store to this tablet? I`ve tried a couple of free ones but get a -101 error.

Ta.

I've been able to download via both the Play installed on the Tab, and also by pushing it from the play google website.

You need to be signed in to your account on the Tab. I have a gmail account, I assumed it was all the same.

@drkarnivore - It seems that lots of people with any make/type of Android device have had the same issue lately. Looks more of a Google server issue - I have not seen a user solution to fix this issue that works on all devices, it's hit and miss.

A few questions:

1. I take it you have an Extreme tablet (as you posted in the Extreme section)?

2. Have you ever been able to download from play with the device with the issue?

3. What country are you located in when using the device?

4. What's the name of your broadband provider?

5. I take it you are connecting the device in question via wifi?

Cheers

Hey bud.

1 - Yep, a brand new extreme delivered this morning.
2 - Never been able to download, this was first try.
3 - In the UK.
4 - Broadband provider is BE Broadband. The mrs has a Samsung S2, she`s ok downloading stuff, albeit with a different account.
5 - Yep, Wifi.

Ok so we have been able to rule a lot out, which is good. I take it on #4 when you say "downloading stuff" you mean from play (market) and that S2 is connected via the wifi the same as your extreme is connected with and not using mobile data connection on the S2 - that phone uses gingerbread, right?

This might not be relevant, but was the purple box the tab came in shrink-wrapped sealed or not?

Also try this quick workaround to solve the issue for the time being as it does seem to be more of a Google issue to 101 error with play (market) connections for people with ICS tablets/phones. Hopefully this will temporally fix it until Google sort out the issue.

Hey guys.

Sorted it. Got a newer version of the Play app from the net, installed that, then created a gmail account and logged in with that, as opposed to my regular google account.

All working now. I think it was logging in with the gmail username that helped weirdly enough.

In terms of the questions, yes it was all sealed in the box.

Very impressed for the money infact!
