iPlayer?

Postby drkarnivore » April 11th, 2012, 6:55 pm

Any ideas on getting iPlayer working? I downloaded it from Google, but launching it forces it to a browser and then get a page with a message 'to play this programme you need to download the adobe flash player from the android market'. I already have adobe flash player 11 though (i.e. Youtube works ok....)

Have you been into the browser settings and "request desktop site"?

Also go into the developer section as described in another post and change from Android to iPad for example.

@Dajja. I uninstalled iPlayer and went to the bbc web site with browser and went into iPlayer from there and it worked well. When I tried to use the iPlayer app it failed saying the device not supported.

Tried that still not working. Tried different browsers and settings in browser. looked on a few different forums and people are having the same problems with tablets with similar specs and ics. Flash is working but iplayer app and site does not recognose it as suported device. It's not the end of the world would have been nice to have iplayer just have to wait for BBC to catch up :)

By default the browser is set to request iPad versions of sites (go figure?). You need to set it to Desktop or Xoom, or anything else, because BBC will reject requests from iPads because they don't support Flash.
If you change the settings as previously mentioned, it will work (albeit poorly).

Have you flashed my latest update? Try that if not.
Let me know.

1: Click the 3 dots in the top right corner of your browser
2: Select Settings
3: go to Debug
4: click Browser Mode
5: Select Android or anything but iPad
