I've installed the superuser app then ran the binary update.. Avast now has full access.

For those interested, to enter the standard android recovery is hold v+ / menu button, and the power button.

After holding for a few seconds and then releasing you should be in.

The v+ / menu button moves down, the esc button moves up and the pwr for select.

Not sure what was meant to happen, but unsure if this one is routed.

If you type su - (that's a minus sign) then the prompt changes from a $ to a # . Normal Linux usage for switching to root. IIRC if root has a password you would be prompted for it. To get out of root type "exit".

Chainfire3D ran OK with superuser permissions, so I'm guessing it is rooted after all?

That's great! No need to mess around. No system is immune to spyware. Avast is just added insurance - saved my computer life many times on my PC! Also there is a lot of system tweaking software that needs root access.

Yep, same with the Excel.
Although, don't tell Storage Options that. They will swear-blind it isn't rooted. Lol.
