Streaming

Postby wantefc » April 14th, 2012, 6:02 pm

I really really want to love this tablet....I don't expect it to be perfect but one thing that disappoints me is the streaming.... not just iplayer.....netflix is almost useless.....veetle seems okish. Streaming football seems to run for 10mins then goes distorted...is there likely to be a fix? As I am a layman when it comes to these.

there probably wont be a fix from here for a while as none of the devs have an extreme email storage options and ask them for a fix as the scrolltabletfoum dont have a tablet see if they willl give you an update.zip

Get your point but your shooting at shadow's all storage options have done is brand the product hell it will be month's more then likely before any update if any..

unfortunately support for the extreme is lacking at the moment as storage options like i said have only branded the product they have probably not even started to experiment with firmware updates/software updates yet so don't expect much help from them at all.

I am shocked to hear of your problems. I don't have an Extreme to try but I do have an Excel and I regularly stream live web TV on it and the only problem I have is with lipsync. I would have thought the Extreme hardware is more than up to the task of streaming media. How good is your broadband?
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

to be honest....i sold the scroll excel to finance my extreme....and apart from dropping wifi randomly it was fine.
I have sky broadband with a N router and its fine ...not the fastest but certainly not the slowest..think last time i checked its about 8 meg
The streaming (which i like to use a lot) i am afraid is a deal breaker...i have informed ebuyer that im returning for a refund..ive found and ordered a motorola xoom for £240 ok its not ICS yet but hopefully its more stable.

There is a procedure to convert the xoom to the US firmware which makes it a "Google Experience" device and hence up-to-date (ICS).

I found a really good streaming test for Extreme:

Go to YouTube and search for "TRON: LEGACY Official Trailer" This is in HD 1080 and is about 60mb for 2.20min.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9szn1QQfas

and this one "Tron Legacy | Teaser US (2010) "

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_KckcEq0SA&feature=related

You should see the Red HQ icon appear when you open it in YouTube app.

Another way to test streaming is by opening a video file from the internet directly in the video player:

Go to http://www.cinenow.co.uk/

Play any of the HD videos there. You will get a message "Complete action using", chose "Video Player" and it will stream it directly to the video player.

My Extreme plays these flawlessly directly from the internet. What about yours?
Today i will be nice to all the people that i meet regardless of their attitude towards me!
No day is so bad it can't be fixed with a nap!

Simple solution..

Everyone just send an email to Storage Options for a firmware update to fix this issue I find the default browser awful compared to the like's of opera mini we are paying 189.99 for it we deserve a working tablet that achieve's all it's made out to do ! :) " we do not have to settle for OK when paying any amount of money it's 2012 !! peeps let's do something about it for once "
