Hello,

Total noob here. Running Windows Vista.

Just wondering...

I downloaded and installed the Android SDK and then downloaded the "android_winusb.inf" driver. But when I went to "(C:) > Program Files > Android > Android SDK" in order to paste in the driver, I couldn't find a folder called "extras". There is only "addons", "platforms" and "tools".

It wouldn't be anything to do with Vista..?

Apologies if I'm missing something really basic!

Thanks for reading!

Get The SDK

First off, if you have never modded or owned an Android device before, you have probably not heard of the Android SDK, its a development kit released by the "All Mighty" Google
You will need to download this in order for you to Flash ICS

Download Link - http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html (Follow suggestions and install "Platform-Tools")

Once you have got the SDK installed, download the drivers below, and copy them to your "extras/google/usb_driver" path..
Mine is

Code: Select all
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver

ADB Drivers

Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit (Should work for XP and Vista also)
You will need to re-install the drivers for ADB to work correctly, i have uploaded mine as they are already modified.

If you don't have the extras folder go back to the SDK Manager and check that the Google USB drivers option is ticked to be installed, its down the very bottom of the list so you may have missed it.

I am running linux so can't select it but its available in Windows.

BTW do check your build number before you flash CWM5 or anything else, recent Excels are not compatible with CWM5 or this ICS rom, see the install CWM5 post.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Still playing with:

ptbw - thanks a lot for your reply.

I went into the Android SDK Manager and clicked "install 8 packages" (Google USB Driver's box was ticked, as were the ones related to Android 4.0.3 - all their statuses were "Not Installed".) A "Choose Which Packages To Install" dialog box popped up, I ticked 'Accept All' and then 'Instal'. But it didn't seem to work... the log came back with the following information (not including the first few lines, for the sake of brevity):

Done. Nothing was installed.

I checked my build number and it's

97F1-D1-H1-H01-1291-20111128

Does that make any difference..?

Thanks again.

I can't help with the SDK under windows I am afraid.

However you should be fine with that build number.

Good stuff re the build number. I'm trying to run the SDK program as Administrator. Might do the trick.. Cheers.

Per the line:
"Flashing via LiveSuit V1.07

Make sure you have LiveSuit and its drivers installed (Download) >>> http://www.box.com/s/qhaqnro5r4gib61nl85q"

I downloaded the LiveSuit application and installed it on my pc by double clicking "LiveSuitPack100_ex.exe". But I can't seem to update the USB driver from the SDK driver to the LiveSuit usb driver. When I go to Device Manager/Update Driver Software/Browse/(browse to C:\Livesuit\UsbDriver)/Next I get a dialogue box telling me "The best driver software for your device is already installed - ... Android Composite ADB interface." Has anyone ever had this problem..?

Thanks for reading.
