Screen slow and white lines - is it bust?

My 7" Scroll tablet's screen has started to respond slowly. I'm not sure if it's the screen or something else but a white line has appeared on the right hand side of the boot screen and the Scroll page has a variable number of interlaced vertical lines. I'll attached some photo the show details.

It has at least once booted to work normally but it doesn't anymore, however often I re-boot. Can anyone help me understand if this is fixable? I've searched the forum for these faults but can't see anything similar.

Is it bust or is there a fix? Any help appreciated as my two lads are missing watching videos and playing games. Thanks

To be honest this looks like what happens to graphics chips in laptops and pc's they get too hot and break away from the main PCB causing graphical glitches, the original xbox360 suffered quite bad with it due to heat not being pushed out of the console fast enough.

It would be an explanation, unless you have dropped it?

Take it apart, located the graphics chip, it may be combined with the CPU, i think it is,
Solution? Possibly - Get a heat gun, put it on medium and hold it over the chip, this will slowly "re-flow" the solder.

Keep it away from plastic obviously, otherwise you will have a really messed up Scroll

Suggsy89 - thanks for the suggestion, I'm not too confident taking it apart (yet). I don't think it was dropped and your suggestion sounds about right.

Veedubya - ermm... where's the reset button?

The reset button is on the side, just above the charger socket. I had to reset mine a few days ago. You have to poke something into the hole. I used the non-sharp end of a large needle.

@GJandD - Looks like you have a 1st gen Scroll, no point looking for the reset hole as there is not one on that model.

PS - You had this from new & is it less than a year old?

Contact SO ASAP for a replacement/fix under warranty, they will either fix it, send out a refurbished replacement or send you a new tablet - but that model is old, so you might get a better model as your replacement.
