I can see your point... GB is better for speed. ICS is well eye candy at its best ol

I don't mind if I get the nand dumps, but if you can I can make a livesuit image for everyone

Can you point me at notes on how to do create a livesuit image as I may need to.......

I flashed back the tablo image and all was well, then installed CWM recovery and it rebooted to recovery and was happy.

Then I restored my GB backup and it fails to display a screen! The tablet is running but dmesg shows a bunch of issues with the drivers failing to load.

I tried a couple of different backups but none work. Tried restoring in CWM then updating nanda from the nanda.img, but that is not working either. So a bit stuffed atm!

Going to mow the lawn now!!

Thanks for the feedback. I also bought this as a media player and I won't bother with ICS if the battery life is reduced. I'm very happy with how the player looks and works now. Seems a bit of a waste of time to upgrade if I will lose the benefit of a longer battery life.

I was going to ask for instructions on how to do this but then I saw you were going back anyway and figured you could save me a little typing and head scratching.

Bummer, to say the least. Hope you sort it.

Happy to do a nand backup, whatever that may be, if required. I'd just need to know how.

Phew.... I am back with my GB backup restored after my adventure with ICS.

I flashed this image 97F1-D1-H2-H01-N410.20120307 from here: http://tabletrepublic.com/forum/iview-760tpc-ployer-momo9/iview-760tpc-k-ployer-momo9-firmware-rom-releases-1610.html

Its very similar to the build I had originally. iPlayer and Skype video work well.

I then installed CWM5. Doing what I did before with CWM5 when I got the blank screen, and copied the modules from the normal system partition to the recovery partition.

Hey presto CWM displayed when I booted recovery and I restored my backup!

I am now back to GB at the moment before I installed ICS.

I would recommend this as a good upgrade for those not wanting to go to ICS but do want an upgrade to their existing ROM. If there is anything anyone wants testing please shout.

whats the lipsync like in iplayer and video playback
as you got it for a media player is the lypsinc not more important than battery life also on GB can you find out whats using the battery on ICS its mostly phone and screen i think the phone was disabled in GB if so then we may be able to disable in ICS to get better life

I never saw any issue with lip sync in my GB build, it was as good as the ICS build. iPlayer in ICS did have freezing issues.

I have tried, .wmv, xvid .avi and .mp4 SD video. As well as mp3 and aac audio. 720p mkv very much depends on bitrate, most of mine are to high for comfortable viewing

iPlayer appears to work fine in this GB build as does the video in Skype. (Skype video was broken in the ICS build).

If you have a small sample video that is particularly bad, drop box or gdrive it and I will give it a go.

on the earlier excels we all suffered from lipsync probs on GB i had an earlier firmware than most and it wasnt so bad but most people have about a 1 second delay on iplayer and most video formats ICS fixed this so if your GB never had this i wonder if your firmware would flash to the older scroll excels(screen drivers??) we need an unmoded livesuite .img of your build to test this

It will flash fine but cwm backups will not restore correctly because of the difference in the kernel. You will have the same problem installing cwm as I had, other than that you can always flash back to the earlier GB rom.

Edit: my experiments with ICS prove that the actual hardware appears to be identical but its the kernel version between the two versions of GB are different so the drivers from one do not work with the other, hence my original fun and games with CWM.
