no internal sound

Postby bristep » May 16th, 2012, 7:38 am

G'day to all. For some reason, my Scroll Excel has taken a vow of silence. Ive checked its not muted by using the keys on the side, checked the settings menu & finally did a hard reset. I can hear using the headphones, which makes me suspect the internal speaker has stopped working. Any ideas from you guys with the big brains, or should I buy it a wimple & enrol it in the local nunnery ? Many thanks

Hi,

This has been reported before unfortunately, you are not on your own with this issue. As far as I remember the fix for this was to open up the tab' and resolder the cable to the speaker back on. Your cable might have become detached (maybe) another fix is to do a factory reset, but this might not solve the issue and you will have to put your apps and data back manually - unless you have a CWM backup or use an app like Titanium pro.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Sadly, the tablet is only about 5 months old so should still be in warranty BUT.... like the senile numpty I am, I bought it from a local retailer & cant find the receipt.... DOH !!! I've e-mailed SO & am waiting for a reply. If they don't offer a solution, I'll take it back to the shop & see if they have the sales record still. Failing that, may opt for the repair you suggested. I've already done the reset & that didn't make any difference, so failing anything else, might come back to you if you're willing to give me an idiots guide to opening the tab, or point me to the right part of this forum. Really do appreciate the help you and the other moderators never fail to give on here
