Hi guys, you're amazing with what you can do. Could you please tell me how someone like me a complete novice can install this upgrade I have had no experience with tablets apart from a month ago and I have no idea what you're talking about but it sounds good. Suggie could you please help out the tabletly challenged?

Hi all. I'm so glad I found this forum! Between this thread and Kevin's I've successfully managed to flash my new extreme with suggsy's excellent 7.1 firmware. Well done and many thanks to all involved!

After using it most of the weekend I can report that, after initial battery fears, it seems to have levelled out to about 80 percent of what I was getting on stock firmware. Which I am more than happy with for the advantages over stock. It seemed to nose dive to shut down but on powering back on again it recovered to around 60 percent. I then run it to near shutdown and charged it overnight switched off. I've since had much better run times with it.

Nevertheless I'm a sucker for updates and I'm about to apply the latest build now. I'll let you know how I get on.

One request I have, but its a personal thing and not a biggy is I would rather have the stock launcher (no apex). I dont find the need for the features Apex adds and wonder if it uses more resources?

Also another personal one, but I dont like the SO balloon startup screen - I had a bad experience in a hot air balloon once Understand if you want to keep it though. Is there a way I can change it afterwards?

Backing up my beta 7.1 build and then going to load the beta 8.0.

Not sure what or how you run the tests on the tablet, if there are a series of tests to follow, happy to give it a go tonight, otherwise I will just play with it and see how it pans out.

On the beta 7.1 build, mine hung today. First noticed that the time was incorrect (out by anout half an hour). I also noticed the Stock Browser not working at all, and other tasks being a little eratic. Opera browser really slow. First thought was my internet/router was down, but other devices in the house accessing the web no problem.

I dont switch my tab off at all, just a small press of the power button to suspend, and I charge at night (or when dead), putting it into suspend/sleep. Not sure if being on for a long period is building up some sort of stack that slows the machine down to a halt.

This isnt really an issue, just a note, incase I should be powering down every night.

Anyone else noticed the same....


Suggsy, for future build, but just a preference and low on the list. I gather this is off a 4.0.4 phone build, which is why the 3 dots on the task bar are no longer presence... am I right or wrong. If so, anyway they can be "resurected" ? Not a problem if they cant, just got use to using them... Also, when running apps, the task bar used to be visible (on most apps) so I could use the back button on the screen. It isnt in the 4.0.4 build, so I have to use the physical back button, which is awkward when in the case (not impossible - just awkward with my fat fingers). How do we get the task bar to stay visible - if possible that is....

Have just installed your latest update and as Piers says it is as fast as before and i can confirm that Google earth works now and online browsing feels smoother but I'm on a fluctuating wireless network at work so I'll play again when i get home. Once again an effortless update.....

by the way what tool do you benchmark your stability tests on?

Suggsy. I also have the 0.8 running, not really use it so far, but seems ok to me at the moment.

Would interested to know how you benchmark test the tablet, that to anyone...

To be honest just play with it as normal tell me what the battery life is like.
The kernel I used from my yarvik firmware .. Which I new was stable.

Main goal is stability with good battery life.
