Hi trashcooky, when I bought the tablet it was already rooted so had no need to nstall SuperUser. So do you suggest installing that and trying again on the terminal?

If you are using "terminal app" on the tablet and not using your PC then yes.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

lost all root access on stock rom

Postby madmatt30 » May 27th, 2012, 12:49 pm

as the title guys, found this forum after doing a search,as its such a new tablet there is very little info
had root access from new ,tried to install lucky patcher & gameloft data to extsd apps, wasnt working properly so updated busybox, all apps now state that there is no root, cant install superuser or busybox now & really wanted root access as Ive had it on all my android devices - it is to all intents & purposes now an unrooted tablet for some reason!!!!

Is there any way to get this back, will installing cwm recovery & a custom or another stock rom give me back my root access
Have never had a problem on htc/sony ericcson phones gaining root as there are so many tuts/tools available but bugger all on the scroll extreme

many thanks in advance to anyone that can hel

Hey, there is a forum where another user had the same problem so your better off posting there. Hopefully you find the answer to your problem!

post link: Mod Edit Link removed as I have now merged these two topics together.

This has happened on the Excel before and I am fairly sure the same cause of problems for the Extreme too. If any of you have installed a version of busybox from market (play) or elsewhere you are in trouble and this has done the damage - As the version of busybox you have installed has messed with the files in /bin &/or /xbin etc. It is fixable (not quickly or simply tho') see the long thread in where myself and a Mitre helped member Buleeagle69 get his Excel fixed, will post link if I can find it.

jesus ,that was some reading, late night but Im going to try & push an older busybox version using adb, this does seem similar (the root access part anyway) - just scared of bricking the tab as there is no official stock firmware around anywhere & can see it being a nightmare if anything goes wrong -i can live without root if need be ,the tablet is working fine apart from that, but the restriction of only having 8gb of onboard memory is bothering me - obviously having root gives me the options of using titanium or other program data to extsd programs to extend memory usage
All tablets with onboard memory seem to be the same, the external sd is only good for music/video/ebooks etc. -of absolutely no use for app installations which is frankly ridicolous imo - Id rather not have the 8gb of internal flash & just use a 32gb microsd card instead, the 8gb flash looks good on paper but is actually a pain in the ass in real life
I had a momo 9 previously ,& cant exactly remerber what it was but I altered a file on there using root to change the extsd & internal sd priorities around,so all stuff was installed to the microsd card instead-this was useful the only downfall being that it was impossible to access the internal memory via pc mass storage - to put anything on there I had to copy to sd card ,then use es file manager to copy from microsd to internal flash - it was awkward but gave me a full 32gb of external space to use for whatever I wanted & 6gb of internal for music/video file
