Scroll extreme 9.7 keyboard - numbers not working?

Postby danskmacabre » May 25th, 2012, 1:12 pm

I have a scroll extreme 9.7 with the scroll extreme wallet/keyboard.
It connects fine, however the number keys across the top don't work.
All the other keys work fine..

I have configured this as a UK keyboard etc, is there some other config I need to switch on?
I have tried with numlock on and ok, but it makes no difference.

it just seems to be the 7,8,9,0 buttons that don't work. which coincidentally also happen to be the top row of the blue keys associated with "numlock", but pressing numlock either on or off makes no difference.

If the 7 8 9 0 keys have never worked ?
it might be a hardware problem as keys are usually wired in banks - I used to know the groups but that was a long time ago so I can't be sure. Otherwise as you say it might be down to software issues. Clearly the other keys are sending the right codes so it must be either a broken keyboard or the current software isn't mapping those particular keys.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

AFAIK the 7,8,9,0, keys have never worked as I just got the keyboard/wallet delivered literally 1 hour ago, so it's brand new.

I guess it COULD be the keys are physically damaged internally (badly wired or whatever), certainly the virtual keyboard works fine.

I bought this from the online BT shop, so I wonder if I should get in touch with storage options or the BT shop to return/replace...

Sounds to me like you have unfortunately got a duff keyboard. Your contract is with the actual company who sold you the keyboard not the importer so get in touch with the people you bought it from (Bt Shop) and ask them about their returns/exchange policy.

Hi all, I contacted the BT shop who wanted some sort of RMA number from Storage Options, the maker of the wallet/keyboard.
So I then had an email convo with Storage options techs who agreed the keyboard was faulty.
They then sent me out an RMA form to fill out which I did and the SAME DAY they sent back a postage paid label and RMA doc to send the wallet/keyboard with.

I have since sent it off. So I won't have to go through the BT shop.
Full credit to the Storage options people, they were super responsive and it was all sorted within the same day with absolutely no quibbles and all via email. If only other companies were so quick and friendly..

Also, thanks for the replies here, they were very helpful. :)
