5 Point or 10 Point Multi-touch Screen now?

Postby stubaldock » May 28th, 2012, 11:24 pm

Hope someone can answer this quick question....

A mate of mine just bought a Zonge M90 9.7" tablet with pretty much the same spec as our scroll Extremes albeit comes with 16gb already installed but his screen is 10 point multi touch and an Allwinner A10 chipset. I just wondered if it is a limitation of the screen or the software that controls the 'multi touch' feature? The reason i ask is if you run the nexus live wall paper I'm sure it registers over 5 simultaneous touches on the Extreme.....

Btw it looks and performs exactly the same as ours :)

Hi stubaldock, I use an Excel with Suggsy's 4.0.4 so not sure about your extreme.
However if I turn on pointer location overlay screen in settings/developer options I can scratch 10 lines on the overlay at once using one hand to drag horizontally and the other to drag verttically at the same time.
This strongly suggests that the 5 point limitation is probably not hardware but soft/firmware in origin.

Hope that helps.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Hi TC

Thanks for taking the time out to look in to this, i was just curious really due to the fact my mate got his and it was 10 point in the specs and i wondered if it was indeed a software/FW limitation. I wonder if the 4.0.4 or 1.0 RC has indeed increased the 5 point to 10 point touch as part of the upgrade???? Maybe someone running stock FW on the Extreme can check this out and post back the result?

Cheers
