Just got this and I need help!!!!!!
Gone to settings menu but can't find the box to tick to unlock the "hidden google app"
Please can someone give me a step by step idiots guide................

The unlock hidden app fix was only available with Gingerbread it is not available in ICS as far as I can tell.
I have Suggsy's ICS Rom installed on my Excel and assuming your Excel is still on Stock build then I may be wrong but I don't think so.
As far as I can tell you should be able to download Google Play app if you haven't got it but Google may make you jump through a few hoops first - like creating a Gmail address and registering your tablet using a working mobile phone No to get your account working. Even then you may have to wait 24hrs for the Google servers to update and show your account. There is still one option box that you may want to tick which is in ICS under security and that is Unknown resources which will allow installation of non market apps.

After 70 minutes managed to downloead Google Play app---still not sure how.
Just downloaded my first app - never had such a feeling of 'real' achievement......... jumped through so many google hoops it should be an Olympic event.

I got mine working as well

Went to google play on the web, but like gilbi1 not sure how I d'loaded the app. Signed in with my gmail account and d'loading fine.

That's a relief

Haven't managed to get the BT FON app - says it's incompatible with device, but it works on my other Excel running A2.3

Seems strange.

Just got an Excel via BT.com, running ICS 4.0.3. Getting Google Play is very simple; Apps > Scroll Apps and it's there in the list, if I remember correctly. Click on it and it appears in the main Apps page/window, press on the icon and you have a shortcut on your homepage!
