Google Play Store not working on Elite :(

If you follow the steps here you can install the market sucessfully.

If installing step 1 , google framework, you are asked to replace an existing application then cancel and move to step 2.

It is an old version of android market but updated itself after a while.

Theses instructions work perfectly on scroll elite, I found if you go to built in slide market first and install es file explorer you can download/unzip the files on the tablet so literally takes 10 seconds to run through this and no PC connection required.

I've installed angry birds space, slideit keyboard demo, quickpic, fruit ninja free (requires closefeint to disable openfeint which fails to start otherwise) and all seem to work fine.

Thank you for posting the fix for the Scroll Elite Google play conundrum. I followed the instructions through a cloudy haze of red wine and found that, to my delight, I can now access the Google apps store. I can now run my blog from pretty much anyware. Thank you for your good work. J:-)

My Extreme was malfunctioning. but was still ok with Play store. Was replaced with Elite, which I thought was an improvment , SlideMe apps install ok but Play store just cuts out when I press the 'ok'. Not a happy bunny, so does it seem I must do a reset to square one, do I use Factory Reset or Recovery Mode option?

Thanks for that link Scott, before I got round to a reset I thought I would give Computric.com a try.
On my Scoll Elite, ICS 4.03 I had to export the downloaded zip file to my laptop (via Samba) to unzip as android file manager would not unzip it. I guessed that it might be a permissions/root user problem. On the laptop I made all the files rwx permissions and transferred back (via Samba) to sdcard.

File 1 advised a problem concerning the existing GoogleServiceFramework (4.0.4-255454 is installed) so I skipped that and the next 3 files installed. Some conflict may exist as the browser hangs frequently and the App screen seems incorrect for this display. The only way I can now install apps is using the 'search' option, 'my Android Apps'' is not functioning on the current display. I still cannot download/install from the web browser so something is still bugging that.
Nevertheless I am downloading my Android apps via the Play store, so many thanks Computric.com for your efforts and guidance.
Any suggestions to resolving the remaining conflicts would be appreciated.

Just wanted to say - THANKS MAN!

Got an Elite a month ago, which turned out to be faulty.. (crackling in speakers even when not doing anything) - was very disappointed about google market. Sent it back got a credit note..

Then... saw your post - took a BIG gamble on another! - but your post and those instructions worked!!. I get the default action menu on startup, but now I've clicked on launcher and 'always do this' - this shouldnt be a prob. Downloaded a game from market all going well.

During the downtime bought one of those cheap arse astro+ 7".. have to say bloody good for the money, thankfully the misses loves it - so now I've got the big elite scroll back, and she cant complain.

the Google play store is preinstalled and working fine, on mine anyway, after ugrading to the 1.1 firmware available from the Storage Options web site.

just purchased an elite after having to send a faulty extreme back but have been told by storage options that i need to upgrade, i noticed you have done this but i am struggling can you help please, i have downloaded all the guides/firmware updates onto my desktop and unzipped them and started the install process but when it gets to the point where you hold the volume button in and press the power button i do not get any box come up as shown in the guide, really need any advise possible also are the speakers supposed to be this rubbish i have it on full volume but can hardly hear anything. cheers.
