Where is everyone hiding...

Postby KLRichards » June 26th, 2012, 1:23 pm

This site has got really slow with updates recently. Has everyone left for somewhere new :|

Sorry mods, appreciate this is probably the wrong forum to post this in, but it is where I have been hanging out as I have an Extreme.....

.....perhaps that is why it is so quiet. Perhaps tghe Extreme is no longer the must have SO tablet, and everyone is now on the Elite forum....

Regards

Kevin

I know just how you feel Kevin, the same thing happened with the Excel and now I notice we have new Elite owners joing the site - I think the word might be organic. What is the (IN) model this week has been replaced with something else by next week.
By the way, after several requests from members I changed the title of that Excellent thread you started called "I'm giving up".
Hope you are keeping well and still taking the tablet -

Hi Guys,

It certainly has quietened down somewhat since the delivery of suggsy's rom then christian troy's CM9 and AOKP. All having made significant improvements for us to enjoy. I see from slatedroid that the aforementioned Mr Troy is requesting a break for this week lol, the poor guy is absolutely snowed under with similar post's to include their new genric'ish firmware in his next build :?

Christian's surname certainly befits his effort in trying to complete all those requests 8-) and its sometimes a task trying to understand what the google translator has actually done to the original question

I still look in every day. Think i'm waiting for a magic CM9 upgrade similar to a simple firmware upgrade to my SII via Kies or a BD player/Humax flash. My Extreme is now hardly used due to it's sluggishness and will it work/won't it USB ports and it's annoying habit of just returning to it's home screen whenever it feels like it.. I fear using any new firmware upgrade will end up in a corrupt dead brick via a fussy USB connection. At least it's tought me a few things. 1. I would use a fast well built tablet. 2. I will buy a Samsung/ASUS or any well known manufacturers tablet next time, not an unknown throwing out new tablets every few weeks with little to no support. and 3. Just how good this forum wouild have been if I'd known how to do things.

I've not been around much as real life & work commitment have caught up with me the last couple o weeks :P
as said though I think that everyone's so happy with the cm9 Roms that they don't feel the need to post so much, the majority of posts are normally regarding problems or advice, the cm9 rom is so good that I don't think anyone really has any problems now.

MrLazy ,if your USB ports are really that unreliable you should look at a warranty repair/replacement.It's sad that you've been unable to flash the cm9 Rom as it makes the tab infinitely better.
where did you purchase from??

Ebuyer when the Extreme was launched. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. I've copied a whole 32Gb microSDHC card of video and music via my laptops card slot and they worked yet when I use USB all the video gets corrupted and won't play. Tried it with various cables and from laptop and my gaming desktop. Now and again the odd music track fails as well. I suppose I have nothing to lose by just trying to flash it, if it dies it dies. If it works then hopefully the software bugs might be history.

OK I've decided to flash it tonight and be damned. I'll re-read the Android Novices bit, have a drink of brandy, take a deep breath......................and if it all goes tits-up blame Trashcooky

Sounds like a plan!

Once CWM is installed all the updates are done by wifi.

The CM9 updates are very good I used the 15/6 one which was very smooth.

Only the customisation options persuaded me to try AOKP. There's lot's of bells and whistles but I think it's a bit slower and the battery drain is higher.

Along with Suggsy's updates you have three great alternatives to the sluggish stock software.

Best of luck.

Barry.

Don't know if this will help you or not but there have ben quite a few posts about poor/intermittent contact of both USB and HDMI ports accross the Scroll tablet range. I note that some members have had success by trimming back the plastic around the offending port which in some cases has resolved the poor connection by then allowing the lead to insert fully.
