Firmware update for the Scroll Elite.

Postby Trashcooky » June 28th, 2012, 3:19 pm

Mod Edit That did not last long the link is now barren.
Well now this is a surprise: http://www.storageoptions.com/support/firmware/download :D

On the Elite firmware download page they even have a download for Livesuite and an instruction manual of how to do it all.

I had a quick look at some of the includes which are:
adobe_pdf.apk
Flash_11.1.112.60.apk
Hi_Q_MP3_recorder1.5.9.apk
Scroll_Apps.apk
ScrollHelp.apk
Bluetooth.apk
com.google.android.gm.1318068884607.apk
HTMLViewer.apk

Still contains all the phone crap as well.

This is an interesting include: A10_3GDongleList.pdf

Thanks BobC, that didn't last long - wonder why they pulled it unless it went up by mistake.
If it is needed by anyone, I got copies of: Elite update 1.1 flashable image, CWM Elite backup zip, and S.O's version of LIvesuite. I can't confirm if they are safe as I don't have an Elite to test on but I grabbed the files whilst they were there anyway.

BobC wrote:Could be that "supporting" the update was too much hassle and they want to talk to folk before they help them brick the tablet.

My principal has been "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" - I didn't have any real problems with my Extreme (that firmware would fix). Currently waiting for an Elite as a replacement for the second Extreme where more cracks appeared in the casing. Elite Mk 1 arrived today - DOA so it's gone back for a replacement.

Although folk slag off SOs support I've found them quite good for warranty issues - quick turn-round and no quibbles. This one arrived this morning, after trying to get it powered up for four hours I emailed SO and had a RMA and pre-paid label in time to stick it in the post by 16:00 - pretty good service.

I suppose the S.O. tablets are still fair value for the money but competition is hotting up now that the industry has realised the fact that android is a real challenge to IOS. There are some interesting tablet configurations appearing on the market lately and with the Google's Nexus 7 offering a quad core deal for just £159.00 which includes £15.00 to spend on Playstore and its got Bluetooth and comes with Jellybean, then S.O. do need to up their game if they want any loyalty.

I am glad that S.O.are sorting you out, but lets hope its not 3rd time unlucky - if you get another duff one tell them you will settle for a Nexus 7 and some change - on sale here http://tinyurl.com/7qx99jo

Yes you are right there is no external sdcard support. Google don't make it clear exactly what you can do with the micro usb port other than charging the unit so it's best to assume very little.
However, I just found out it carries NFC chip inside it so you can whip it out of your breast pocket in the supermarket and pay for your shopping using Google Wallet.
There is a 16 Gig version which costs around £193.00 which is quite competitive

i belive that google are hoping users will stream content from play shop and perhaps use cloud storage same as kindle fire so they dont want an sd card slot on the tablet forcing you to use there servers and they can send ads to you
no doubt some dev will find a way to open up the usb for storage justwatched an unpacking vid and it looks protty cool compared to the fire

This firmware 1.1 update for the Elite was originally posted by Storage Options but they took it down and I don't know for certain why. So - use at your own risk as I don't have an Elite and could not test it.
you can download it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/62587913/Scroll ... .v.1.1.zip
