Ha ha, no probs.

So other than Suggsy's and CM9 what other ROM options do we have.. is there an AOKP version we can use on our Allwinners? Now I've seen the difference a decent ROM can make to a device compared to stock I'm eagerly awaiting more developments. In particular Jelly Bean and it's "smooth as butter" speed improvements over ICS. If you google "google jelly bean butter CPU GPU" and read up on what they've done to improve performance there's every reason we should be excited at seeing it come to our device with it's flakey CPU but pretty respectable GPU.

I've just taken the plunge and put a Resurrection Remix ROM (with Jelly Bean transitions!) on my Samsung Galaxy S2 and it's lovely and fast (uses either CM9 or AOKP kernel) - Anything vaguely similar for our device would be fantastic - we share a GPU with the SGS2 apparently so I get the feeling not a huge job for someone with the know how!

Hey people, it's my first post on here so be gentle (I'm not even sure I'm posting this in the right place). I just completed my Scroll Extreme upgrade to CM9 a couple of nights back using information from various sources, making some notes along the way. It's amazing, so thanks for all the help from everyone that ever posted or supplied info and software. The information needed to complete this seemed a little fragmented so I thought I might post my personal 'guide' for anyone else wanting to greatly improve upon the appaling version of Android that Storage Options have given us. My guide is made up from posts and links by others, so if you see something of yours here then thanks very much. If you see a discrepancy, or think this can be improved upon, please let me know. This info worked for me, so hopefully it will for you too :)

To Install ClockworkMod:

Install Terminal Emulator by Jack Palevich from Google Play and do the following:

- Unpack CMW file and copy install-recovery.sh and recovery.img to a
directory (e.g. CWM) on the sdcard on the tablet.
- Open a terminal and become root:

su

- Busybox doesn't have a cp command, so use cat to get the files into
the right directory:

cat /mnt/sdcard/CWM/recovery.img > /data/recovery.img
cat /mnt/sdcard/CWM/install-recovery.sh > /data/install-recovery.sh

- Change the permissions on the shell script and run it:

cd /data
chmod 755 install-recovery.sh
./install-recovery.sh
Flashing ROMs using CWM on the Scroll Extreme

1) Copy your chosen Android ROM and Compatibility Pack.zip files to your devices internal (using USB cable and ‘File Storage Mode’) or external memory card
2) Turn off your Scroll Extreme
3) HOLD DOWN the left volume key + power button for around 10 seconds, it will then boot up into CWM
4) Do a nandroid backup (if you want to), then ‘Wipe data / Factory reset’ (Volume keys = up/down, back = back and power = select)
5) Once that is completed you can choose the option to select a ROM and follow the on screen instructions.
6) Install Compatibility Pack from SD card
7) Reboot
8) Install gapps using Update Me app (plus any others) or download and install from SD card using ClockworkMod

Note: when you update to a newer build you don't need to do a full wipe, you just have to wipe cache and dalvik cache

Anyone have the same issue over the time on this build. It is set to right time zone, but when selected to get time automatically it always sets the clock 10 mins fast.... Annoying but not disastrous. Just have to set it manually. Not sure which timezone is 10 mins infront

puddleduck wrote:Yup a great upgrade as usual by Christian.

With the CPU cranked up to 1200 I got a Quadrant score of 2189 the highest I've seen so far.

I too miss the volume buttons.

CM9 is definitely faster/smoother than AOKP at the moment.

Hi, Could you share you performance settings please as I cant match that score on this new Rom so far, 1980 last night, I wonder if I'm using the wrong governor or something

Hi,

In Performance under System, the CPU governor is SMARTASSV2.

Maximum CPU frequency set at 1200.

Under Memory Management I've got Kernel samepage merging turned on.

Highest Quadrant score 2227 which varies a bit. Using CM9 7/11 (latest).

Hi, Kevin I'm running the latest CM9 and the clock is fine.

Are you sure you haven't got a "time" app messing with the clock?

Best of luck sorting it.

Hi,

First post for me, but have been following the forum for a while now and have found it invaluable for helping me get my scroll extreme on to CM9 and to a point where I am finally happy with tablet.

with regards to puddleduck's comments, I also have issues with the clock, to the point where it easily gains over an hour each day. (I have actually removed it from view as it was just confusing me!)

Also how do I go about increasing the max frequency of the CPU without crashing the device. I tried in the system setting once and had quite a few issues getting the tablet to stay stable so I could set it back!

Many thanks
