Bricked Extreme?

When I say 'nothing' I mean it doesn't show any devices. It does show 'List of devices attached' ...and then nothing

Ok.. not sure exactly why these device/s are disapearing..
I assume you have correctly set the SDK path in Windows so that Windows knows where to look for adb from within a command window? If you have then skip 1: and go straight to 2:

1: If you haven't, then read this and do what is necessary to set the SDK path in Windows.

2: when you have set the path correctly open a command window in administrator mode and type the green writing

adb devices

Can you try this and make a note of what it returns.

It should generate a list of attached emulators/devices using the devices command:
One of these should be your tablet -
(usually there is only one unless you have other devices attached also)

No success I'm afraid.
adb devices didn't list any devices. (was running as administrator)

I was cd'ing to where adb.exe lives originally but I also set up the path variable but got the same result.

Just wondering, now that I have the drivers installed, should I just be able to plug in the tablet and it should show up in device manager?
Only asking because it doesn't initially show up unless I do the 'hold vol+ while plugging in and then repeatedly press/release the power button'
Once it is recognised the first time I can unplug/re-plug and it shows up straight away.

Have you checked the usb drivers in device manager to see if you have any exclamation marks showing?

Have a look at this thread :

and see if the drivers I suggested help - they seem to have sorted out adb problems for a few of us.

This is a really silly question.... theres no chance that USB debugging has got turned off on the tablet is there?

Not a silly question at all. I never turned it off and I believe it was on by default. Unfortunately I can't check as the tablet won't boot. Tbh, I can't remember if I checked or not. Think I read somewhere that it already enabled on the extreme.

Although I don't have an Extreme I would think it very odd to have usb debug turned on by default out of the box.
