There is a hair

Under my screen

:(

I have kept the protective film on my scroll since the day it came about 10 months ago

I removed said film the other day and there is a hair under the screen (I think between the display and the top plastic screen???)

any suggestions???

You don't say what model you have but the Excel certainly lets dust and dirt in through the ports and buttons. Mine is 7 months old and looks like a micro dust fest with one very annoying piece of God knows what underneath the glass right in the middle of the screen.

As it is a hair under your glass I suspect it got there during manufacture.

What can you do ?

Well, you could contact Storage Options - as you say it is only 10 months old - and they might just replace it, but I don't think they will be that helpful.

Alternatively, if you fancy yourself as a brain surgeon or bomb disposal expert with lots of patience, a steady hand and 20/20 vision you might just consider taking it apart. However this route is fraught with risk and you may completely b**ls it up or even make the screen contamination worse.

If you decide on the latter, please take photo's and post them back here so others can see the process and hazards, the most obvious being ribbon cables for the screen and matrix and wires to the speaker etc.

Sorry this is not much help but that's your options or alternatively you may have to learn to live with this problem like so many others have had to. :(

I have a scroll 8 inch special edition

have sent storage options an email asking them for help, I shall wait with baited breath... even found my receipt out!

I wonder if a mobile phone repair shop type place would be able to do it?

the black edged plastic thingy (under the cover plastic) might lift up? would this be a good way to get it out?

I hope S.O. come through for you as the alternative is not something to be undertaken lightly. Although this is for another tablet, it will give you some idea and you can search Youtube for others:

Download Titanium Backup from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... WNrdXAiXQ..

Backup all your apps and save them to your PC before you send your tablet back.
When you get (hopefully) a replacement, install Titanium backup on it and put your apps backup on it and restore your apps from the backup.

well.....

Sent it back, there wasn't too many apps on it to be honest so wasn't too much of a trauma!

the replacement came... opened it all giddy and was mortified...

in the bottom of the corner was a 1cm deepish scratch, pulled up the screen cover and yep it was on the screen!

queue not so happy scroll owner contacting S.O again, it was passed to a manager, sent scroll back Monday, new tablet came today!! and.........

they gave me an upgrade!!! I am now proud owner of a scroll engage! very nice, much smoother than the scroll S.E

so +1 for service for storage options...

good points.. very quick turnaround of dealing with requests for RMA numbers, very quick delivery back using DPD and got a text this morning with a 1 hour delivery slot

bad points.. communication could have been better, if it wasn't for the text's from DPD telling me I have a delivery and guessing what it was I would not have known

:)

I have already emailed heartfelt thanks to SO, but if they are reading this then THANK YOU AGAIN!!

husband is very jealous...
