Well, I tried flashing JB again as posted in this thread but I still cannot make the internal SD card accessible.
I have done wipes for cache and Dalvic and factory resets but each time it starts to check the SD card shows a small SD card icon then this dissapears.

The tablet works OK but I only have (phone) storage memory space and cannot move any apps to SD as it reports SD missing, not mounted or empty. When I try to move with apps2SD it reports not enough space even when trying to move a small 2Mb file.

I have tried mounting SD from within CWM but this simply fails - as does emmc neither will mount from within CWM.
When I edit vold 2.0 fstab to change nandj back to nandi and re-boot it trys to mount sd but then reports damaged SD try to format to correct.

I began to think that my nand was faulty so I have flashed a stock Tablo 4.0.3 and this works steady as a rock with no SD problems.

My conclusion is that unfortunately something is still amiss in the JB ROM. Several flashers of CM10 on XDA developers have also experienced this problem so I am sure there is still an issue/bug in the CM10 based JB ROM that needs sorting.

There is an interesting thread on XDA about swapping the internal SD (usually between 2-5 G) with an external SD card taking it up to the card limit 30 G +.
Read about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1874485

Meanwhile, I feel I must return to ICS until a solution can be found. JB is brilliant but for me the lack of internal SD card means that any games I install which require download of additional data to the internal SD simply don't work. In fact any apps that want to interrogate the internal SD space fail to work. :(
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Just a thought here TC - a long shot maybe. Did you try a freshly formatted (within the Excel with JB) SD and see if that worked.

So are some people with JB on the Excel having this SD issue and other not?

OIC - Well my idea is not helpful in that case then. - So I take it that in the setting it just shows as no SD has been inserted then?

Another option is get a Nexus 7 as that does not have an SD slot - Problem solved  (You know I am joking there, I just could not help myself.)

I gave favorable comments on the JB image, because the SD problem was not causing me any problems (unlike TC). In reality the storage folders are wrong. After using it for a week I have switched back to ICS because connecting to WiFi caused problems & the launcher appeared to be unstable.

Nice one Charlie.

The sequence of events are that during boot I get a little SD card symbol indicating that SD is mounting as normal (this occurs for the internal SD card even if you haven't got an external card plugged in.) Then this changes to include a (can't remember if it is a cross or an exclamation mark on the SD card symbol) which when clicked on gives a dialogue that the SD card is either damaged, unformatted or missing. Attempts to format simply fail to happen as the tablet thinks there is no SD card to format. Or as on one occasion it formatted the External card and I lost all my back-ups. Good job I also had them on my PC.

The tablet works just fine in general until you need to install extra data (like the additional data for Asphalt-5) simply fails as it reports there is zero space available to download the files to. This data normally resides on the internal SD anyway in a "Gamesloft" folder. Any app that requires access to the internal SD card fails as there apparently is no internal SD card available. When I broswe with ES file explorer I can find the external SD OK but when I drill down through system/mount/sdcartd0 (sdcard0 is how CM10 JB displays the nand SD space with sdcard1 being external and sdcard2 being usb) I get the message that the folder is empty due to SD nand being either missing corrupt or unformatted.

This is probably as simple as redirecting the system to look in the correct location but I have given up for now and I am trialing the Yarvik stock ICS 4.0.4 which creates a huge system partition of (503 MB) with 305 MB used to cover the extra bells and whistles that come with it on the Excel version. Such as an excellent ICS 4.0.4 manual which arrives on your desktop and very nice volume soft-keys placed down on the left bottom where the return. home , and task-bar icons are. These disappear when they are not needed such as for watching movies etc.

I must say I am very impressed with the Yarvik build which they have definitely tweaked to provide a good user experience - and - they include one of my favourites "es-file explorer" in the download with manual instructions on how to read the system /. This will be available for download when I host it hopefully soon.

All those Excel owners who are still on GB might want to give it a try but you need to remember that installing this with Livesuite will lose you CWM if you have already installed.

Thanks for the detailed info @TC and @Oidal.

@TC Didn't you format your SD card in NTFS format as a test that was done on the forum ages ago? If so change to FAT/FAT32 and that could be a temp fix.

Yes I always use FAT32 for the tablet although I do believe you can also use ext 2-3-4 being linux based as well.
NTFS is strictly Microsoft's baby as I found out when I complained to Humax that their (Linux based ext files recordings use) were incompatible with my Windows PC. They told me in no uncertain terms that NTFS is copyrighted by MicroSoft and they weren't prepared to pay a license fee for their Humax boxes when they can use Open source Linux for free.

Humax boxes will also recognise FAT32 but then you are restricted by the 4Gig filesize limit. Seems you just can't win sometimes. :x
