Storage Option Ceases Market Support

Postby aeroalex » January 14th, 2011, 6:03 pm

Storage options is no longer supporting the market application, found on there website

Due to licensing regulations and the varied performance of the Android Marketplace Application and affiliated third party applications running on the Storage Options Scroll, we regret we are no longer able to offer official support or advice for these items on our hardware.

As always here at Storage Options we remain committed to the support of the Android community, The Open Source Community and indeed the support of our Scroll hardware. We wish to openly make our users aware of our "Getting The Best From Your Scroll" web document, and the multitude of alternative marketplaces and application installers available on the web today.

FAIL -

It coz google won't licence them and/or they won't pay google, so they can use the google apps on the scroll

thats sucks for people that buy the scroll now (and ones already with an issue) - big time - one of the reasons i bought this scroll was the market place and 2 to learn android.

- Is this the beginning of the end for the scroll???

Im sure we will find a workaround to get market working again

After all, it is only the ID of the device which is telling the Market what is accessing it right ?

SO have just thought, Millions of complaints, we can't fix it, fook it, we`ll remove it and drop support.

But Im sure we will still find a way to access it

i'm not sure if our market will be affected by this yet, it might be in the future. It shouldn't affect the market on rooted device

it also seems weird that the 8inch scroll is nowhere on there website and the same market incapabilities happened to the cherrypad?

hmm...

when the device is rooted the market gains full access which storage options wouldn't be able to stop. In theory SO shouldn't be able to stop the market on all devices rooted or no as they have already been brought and they can't gain access to them. Any other devices shipped will be affected as they won't come with the market, this is also shown in their updated manual, the firmware update is no longer there.

Don't think this is the end for the. Scroll there are a lot of tablets without Google market support. The whole Archos range springs to mind and they are still shipping and developing new device's

Rooting the device has NO EFFECT on the market... just so ya know :P
The full market appears to be a bug related to removeing the 3 phone apk files.

SO Never had teh rights to put the market on the Scroll at all. it was a hack job from teh start like I claimed lol.
Also my build.prop v3 already changes the fingerprint of the scroll to a nexus one there is more work needed for the full market to be fixed again
