however i still dont know where i go when open supermanager i have apk manager,file explorer etc. i'm assuming is apk manager. but once in there i dont know how i can select and change name...im scared of bricking it if i just guess what im supposed to do.

No, File Explorer. Go up a directory then into /system then into /app

Remember to do it in the right oder and after you do the first one, power off and back on, then do the other two, then power off and back on again.

Thanks for that, it would have taken me forever or not at all to find it...but now i can see:

apk path:/system/app/phone.apk.

there are 7 boxes run, info, bapk, install, basic, activity and permission...ive tried all but i dont know where i can rename :s.

Where do I go from there? Sorry I am a real beginner!

you have used clockworkmod to make a backup - so u can use the backup to restore the scroll, if things mess up

After some helpful advice from alot of ppl, I think I have done it....but I just want to be sure. when i went in to supermanager, it took me awhile to find out how to rename. Basically I selected the tick so that it turns green and then press BtoA icon and a new window "rename a file" appears. I added .old in the PMT order and selected OK to save and rebooted after the the first renaming.

when i went back scolled passed phone.apk. it doesnt show phone.apk.old. is this correct?

you can root using the internal nand if you want to. clockwork requires a sd card

You can.

I did mine last night using the PC method.

Need an SD card to do the Clockworkmod backup though before you can apply the custom build.prop after you've rooted it.
