wifi requires router restart

I can connect my scroll to home wifi (belkin) but if I power off the scroll it does not automatically connect back to the home network, or rather it tries then goes back to disconnected. It is a remembered network. If I restart the router the scroll connects immediately. I have tried using DHCP and fixed IP address. The DHCP lease time is forever. Once connected it's fine but it's going to be a pain if I have to restart the router every time. Anyone got any ideas? I don't think it is a problem with the scroll as I have another router (a mifi) and it reconnects to that immediately every time.

Does sound a bit odd....
Do you have the latest Belkin firmware on your router?

Do you have access to another router to try?

I avoid Belkin as they're the most unreliable routers I've come across.

You mentioned the key word there...Belkin
If the lease time is set for too long then the router will not allocate a new IP (or existing) for the scroll as it'll not really "know" that the device has disconnected... in which case it'll believe the device is a dupe and prevent it from connecting a 2nd time.

The alternative is to use a WiFi app that "should" automatically connect (something like WeFi Connect)
or
Go into WiFi settings then disable and re-enable the WiFi and it'll force it to connect.

@JimmyW - I tried disabling and re-enabling the wifi but that did not help - I'll try WeFi connect - thanks

Try Fonefixers advice, I have an old Linksys router that started playing up, I was 1 step from throwing it away when I noticed a recent update to the firmware on the linksys site. I flashed it with that and it's been perfect since. Might be worth a shot to see if there is new firmware available, although I have had problems with Belkin in the past and tend to stay away from them.

I have used belkin routers for many years, and have had no problems -

i have DCHP lease time = forever - just make sure DCHP is on and the IP Pool is large enough for all ur devices that connect

Model is Belkin F5D7634-4
I have 100 addresses in DHCP pool with only 2-3 used and DHCP lease is forever.
As I said in an earlier post in gave also tried fixed IP address.
I have connected a variety of PCs, laptops, phones, printers and other mobile devices with no issues.
I'm going to try another wifi app to see if that can manage the connection better.
