So easily scratched!

Postby samtheeagle » January 23rd, 2011, 12:19 pm

I love my scroll, I've only had it a few days and I think it's great, with one exception. The screen appears to be made of the softest plastic known to man. I've been using my finger / nail to drive it, and it's already littered with small scratches, and I've just added a really good one slap bang in the middle of the screen :( I dread to think what it's going to be like after a month or two...

It's a screen protector. There are no bespoke replacements, you pretty much have to get one over-sized and carefully cut it down with an X-acto.

I took mine off and the screen is much more responsive.

Well, yes. And between that and pointing your app installer to /cache/, you're certainly moving in interesting directions :D

Yeah I took off the thick cover it shipped with, it was a bubbly mess. This the actual screen :(

Oh dear, lol. You run the bubbles off in a few minutes with a plastic card or the like.

Ah well, eventually there will be how-to's on screen replacement for the Scroll I'm sure :D

I still recommend getting a screen protector. I have had my scroll for about 2 months and it does have a few tiny scratches from the stylus, especially from playing games that require dragging. I recommend using the stylus for tapping and fingers for dragging.

I've yet to find a screen protector that's worked to my satisfaction for any device. It strikes me that touchscreen products should survive being touched! Maybe it's just me :P Still, the scroll is worth every penny.
