Hi,

Found a forum talking about how to disable the 'cell standby' for tablets (they have done it but for a different tablet)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855812

Link for info, it is NOT a how to for turning of 'cell standby' for the scroll

Packages were removed in the order Mms, VoiceDialer, TelephonyProvider, then Phone.

above quote from xda forum, looks like these are the apk's that we need to stop running to increase battery life.

How long did each of you charge your tablet the first time before turning it on?

@Diego

I charged for about 16hrs - was using the scroll for about 5hrs during that time, but always with the charger on.

Good find, just had a look at the cell standby myself and it drains my battery by 52%! If it was removed the battery life on the device would be a lot better. However its removing the apks that are the problem as they are apart of the android OS and could make the system unstable? I think you can remove them manually if your system is rooted.

aeroalex,

just removing them when the system is running can cause a FC loop - I have no idea how to completely get rid of theses apk's and leave the system stable. but i am testing my workaround again today. so far 3hrs 3 mins and 67% left of the battery. I think the APNdroid app cons the system to stop it launching the phone apps.

@Diego

also when i got the scroll it was during the heavy snow and the scroll was very cold when I got it (been sitting in city link depot for days) so i left to warm up for 4hrs at room temp before charging or powering up.

I did this as batteries dont work well in cold temps and this can shorten the life of them. (needs to be around body temp for the electrical/chemical reactions to preform at best)
