Scroll and NTFS

Hi, not sure if this is problem or good news.
After reading various posts on forums about 4gb being the limit for files to transfer via FAT32 and NTFS not working with android tablets, i tested it out with a 14gb 1080p MKV file.
I formatted the 16gb microSD card to NTFS, copied the movie to the card (took about and hour!).
Clicked on Video, choose MVideo player and the movie playe! ..... well sort of. It played but stuttered a bit (though playing a 14gb 1080p file i wasnt that suprised it struggled.)

Will try with 720p equivalent of the file (about 8gb) and see how it goes with NTFS. Fingers crossed!

its not so much the file structure of the card, more to do with the speed of the card...any idea what class it is?
i'd also recommend encoding to the native resolution of the screen, unless you plan to stream the video from the scroll to the t.v via HDMI.
i dont see the point in putting 1080 or 720 films on there when the screen isn't going to show it properly...

It was a Sandisk Class 2 card.

I watch the files via HDMI out to LCD tv.

I'd suggest a faster card then! i have a 32gb class 4 which arrived yesterday, file transfer rate are definatley quicker.
class 2 = 16Mbits/s read . 2Mbytes/s write
class 4 = double the speeds above (32 and 4)
class 6 = 3x the figures for class 2
class 10 = ridiculously fast and will make your wallet bleed...
obviously these figures may differ due to the infinite amount of variables, by as a general guide it gives an indication, either that or encode the.mkv at a lesser bitrate until you find it stops skipping...

i've got Sandisk card, but i see Amazon have Kingston Class 4 16gb for same price i paid for my class 2. Any idea if they are better make than Sandisk? May have to wait to payday though either way

I have never had issues with either make - but always get class 4 or (if i have more funds) 6 or above

Back in the day, Kingston was the only brand of memory, beside their own, that HP would endorse for use in servers that were on maintenance contract.
