Good morning all!

Ok, so yesterday I really gave it a good going over with usage.

I would estimate I got about just over 4 hours from it which judging by what the specs say, this is about right.

However, one problem I have now is, after doing the 2.1 upgrade it seems when I try and use the camera, the on screen display seems to be blank. But if you take a picture, it does actually work.

Anyone got any idea what the problem may be?

More than likely a case of three steps forward, two steps back in the case of SO's 1.02 update!

Try this first,

1. If you haven't already installed it, download Advanced task Killer (free) from market or http://www.androidtapp.com/advanced-task-killer/

2. Close any programs you've got running in the background

3. Try opening the camera app again, see if it'll show you what the camera is seeing or not.

4. If not, tell us what firmware you updated from and if you have A: Clockworkmod installed B: Rooted device C: build.prop replaced - there have been some reports that updating a modded scroll without first rolling back can cause either the update not to take or for strange things to happen after the update, there are instructions available on how to roll back these changes or simply mod the update to work on top.

Currently I haven't seen any posts relating to this issue, so you might have found a new bug, or simply had a bad update, in which case a re-flash may be helpful (can someone else verify this - waiting on my microSD so unsure if you can flash over the top with the same FW version or not).

Hope this helps
David Kirkland

firmware version : v0.94
Kernel version : 2.6.29
Build number 2.1

Rooted | Clockworkmod'd | build.prop'd | PMT Slimmed | Nano installed

Hi Brian, i've had a nightmare with the charger, but have discovered

the scroll does have a display when charging

and at what percent its charged. when you plug in charger from device being off, it switches on, then if you gently powere offer but not shut device down then press power on a display comes up with % being charged, i've then turned off by powering down completely to help it charge.

i've given up with the charger they sent me, they even sent a replacement, i now use the usb slot to charge its loads better and quicker.

i dont want to send scroll back as i've got it set up lovely and cant be bothered with the hassles of reseting it.

"most of my devices show a notification of charging when the device is powered off thats what made me wonder that would be a nice touch for the scroll something like charge in progress splash screen for a few seconds :D"

best wishes sarah

@ssarahsteves

thanks for reply yes i no that happens but what would be nice is a splash screen telling you its charging when the device has powered down do you see what i mean? no problems with my wall-charger. from using the usb port from a pc/laptop the amount of mA of output is lower than the wall charger mA output.
Best regards brian.

if it's powered down, it's off. the usual power screens (eg. like on the ipod touch) show power levels when its in sleep mode. if the device is off, it's switched off, ie. no OS running to be able to display.

if you ever get this idea to work you'll make a fortune ;)

Hey all,

Sorry for my late response.

Ok, I have no idea what firmware was on the system before the update unfortunately.

Is there a way of putting the original Out of the Box firmware on the system?

I have also tried some different Camera apps to see if it was the one which comes on the system, but nothing displayed on the screen. However it still does take pictures from the camera.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was going to call/email Storage Options and see what they have to say about the problem...maybe as it has been mentioned it could be a glitch.

Dean: I upgraded to 1.02 last week. My camera is fully working. Maybe an email to SO will highlight the problem and get results. If its their update that has caused the issue you should RMA it (they will send you a form to fill in for an RMA number)
Could you return it to the supplier as faulty?

Hi Fonefixer,

I have a feeling that the tablet I received back from the place I originally purchased it from was a reconditioned unit.

I do not know if I talk to Scroll if they will accept this back and supply me with another?

Plus, if I can somehow roll the unit back to its original firmware, then I can start again and try again.

Not sure if you can do this or not though :s

According to SO you cant do a rollback. Your best bet is to contact SO by phone and get it RMA. They might reload or replace it. Either way they have to do something
