Filesystem - where do I put things...

Postby beelzebub » January 30th, 2011, 9:50 pm

Hi Guys,
I have a number of pdf docs I would like to put on my tablet. I tried copying them from the PC via USB, but after properly disconnecting, the docs can't be seen by FBReader. I did copy some ebooks via wi-fi and they show up just fine.

On a related issue, I would like to copy some mp3s from the PC, but I don't know where they should go - any ideas?

For pdfs just install the adobe reader from the market.

Mp3s can go anywhere, your scroll will find them when you disconnect it.

I keep my book files in a directory called Books on the SD card, I think that's where Fbreader defaults to.

Tend to agree with praed0r on this one, Tried to copy over Sun Tsu's "The art of war" to the scroll the other day - could FB find it on the built in memory? My a** it could!

Go for adobe reader, it's free anyway.

Hi Veng,
I sorted the mp3s - I just made a folder 'Music' then copied my albums in there (preserving the structure of media player).

With pdf docs, I downloaded acrobat reader from the android site, but I can't see the icon anywhere (It is listed in Application Settings) but I can't see how I can run it.

OK, I'm getting somewhere - if I press the background of the Home screen for a few seconds, I get an 'Add to Home screen' pop-up. Selecting 'Shortcuts' - 'Applications' I see the reader app. Selecting this puts the Adobe Reader icon onto my Home screen. Good!

Now, playing around with this, I managed to add two instances of a widget (Power Control), but I can't seem to be able to get rid of them. Anyone know how to do this?

press and hold your finger on the widget, after a second it should 'float' dont take your finger off! you should now see the menu scroller at the bottom of the screen has now changed to a bin icon, drag the widget there and your done ;)

Thanks mojo, I had tried that, but I didn't hold it over the bin properly - I had to hold it over the bin until the widget turned red and at that point, it deleted Hooray!! :D
I now have a clean, tidy home screen - thanks again!
