Thanks for the update regarding v1.02...it's a relief knowing it's something fixable!! Quick question, is the install-recovery.sh file accessible from the Scroll? I've been searching for it using Supermanager without success. I'm going to access the scroll tonight via my laptop to see if I can find it that way...is there a more obvious/better way to find this file? I can't see it in the suggested directory but of course it could just be hiding!! Good times.

Thanks again,

Linzi

If my memory serves me correctly, it is here

/system/etc/install-recovery.sh

If you download the Android SDK and use the adb command

adb pull /system/etc/install-recovery.sh

It will save it to the adb dir on the PC

Hey,

I'm probably being daft but I'm struggling to get the Android SDK working. I've managed to get it installed and I open cmd on the appropriate directory. I can see my scroll using the "adb devices" command (if i'm lucky it's even online!). I then type "adb shell", which works but then the "adb pull /system/etc/install-recovery.sh" command doesn't work...I get: "adb: not found"

Any ideas?

Sorry for being daft!

Linzi

EDIT: Using cd and ls I've had a scout around and I don't think the install-recovery.sh file isn't there. Is there anywhere else I can look or some way to make the file visible? Thanks again!!

Just

adb pull /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /

(don't use adb shell 1st, on this occasion)

but this will only copy the file to your pc - not delete it!

then, adb shell

rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh (this will remove the file)

I've just tried it and I got:

"remote object '/system/etc/install-recovery.sh' does not exist"

^That was for the pull command

Sorry for being a pest...

You have done it right - but the file you are looking for is not there.

It is possible that it is in a different place or not there at all - (Your firmware is 1.02 from 'stock' - looks to be different to having FW 1.02 from an update)

I am not sure, where the file could be at the mo, sorry

I've just tried again to access clockworkmod but the scroll is still just freezing on the white 'scroll' screen. It looks like I'll have to wait until someone in the know acquires a stock v1.02 device. I'm wondering if they've renamed the file. We know, at very least, that they've moved it...I just hope we can find it!

Thanks for your help with this, I'll keep looking!

Just a guess, but is the white 'scroll' screen happening when u have run the 'first batch file' ? - if so run the second batch file - Also you need to have the power adapter plugged in to the scroll and on.

(if you can give more info, the answer can be better) - :)

or switch on the scroll whilst - holding down the power & volume + button (don't let go) until you see the green menu (thats CWM)

I've run the two batch files as described and my scroll responds as described too (and the power adaptor is in and scroll is on). The issue I have is when I try to enter recovery mode. I switch on the scroll whilst holding down the volume + button but the scroll freezes on the white "scroll" screen...and I've held it down for a really long time, just to be sure that it's not just me being impatient. I never get to the green menu.

My thinking is that, if this install-recovery file is still present then perhaps as I go to switch it back on and into recovery mode that file is taking over and confusing things. This might not be the issue but it's my only starting point. Thanks for your help with this, it's just a shame I got v1.02. Those new ones were delivered that day, one day sooner and i'd be on v1.01 like everyone else!! Never mind though...:)
