I had the same problem when I was on 1.01 firmware. I upgraded to 1.02 and the problem went away, along with some other wifi issues. Beware there are some issues with 1.02 as well. Markets works intermittently, YouTube and gmail apps disappear, but for the they were not showstoppers. So do a bit of research before you upgrade.

Thanks for the reply, do you think it would have anything to do with other apps running on it?

@drewbear

Are you trying a video that has worked on the scroll before, again? If it's a new video you are trying, it might be encoded in a format that the video player you are using can not decode.

Use the recovery mode and do a reset in there... will put it back to stock (assuming you haven't rooted/cwm'ed) so anything that's got pooted will be repaired.

just a quick question, did you go into settings/sound & displayand make a selection in "output select"?

just a thought to cover all bases.
if in doubt, search
firmware v1.01 kernel 2.6.29 Android 2.1
2nd scroll firmware v1.00
