pressing it done takes you to fastboot mode.
pressing up to recovery

You can just hold the volume button down until whatever boots boots its easier lol

Hey guys,

Thanks for your help. I spoke to a guy from the Distribution company and he believes it's a hardware fault as I can't do a "reset factory settings" via the software either. I'm getting it replaced tomorrow, so now I've just gotta try and wipe all of the data without the ability to do a factory reset or any kind of restore! Hopefully the new one will boot into recovery mode.

If you do have the factory data reset option, under > "setting" > "privacy" = "factory data reset" , just use that BUT have the power adapter plugged in and on when you do it, otherwise it will not work.

P.S. - Did you make sure you were holding Power button & the "Volume UP" button & NOT the "Volume DOWN" -(as mentioned by Mac & warpedflash) - when trying to access the recovery partition menu?

Hey Charlie,

That function has also been a victim of whatever is the matter with this Scroll. I think I've got everything manually apart from the gmail email account which I can't delete without the factory reset so I've just disabled the email account on my laptop so it should be ok.

Thanks,

ok, i thought it might be obvious what i was implying, which was that the volume switch *might* be the wrong way around, seeing as it *appeared* linzd87 problem *might* be putting the scroll into the fastboot mode. felt it was worth linzd87 giving it a try, seeing as all else had failed.

Hi mac,

Sorry I didn't mention...I tried it and it just crashed in the same way...I even tried holding down the other buttons in case the methodology had changed for firmware version 1.02. I didn't mean to offend, I just forgot to say that I'd tried that too...apologies! :)

Hello, i've been having the same problem as another user on the thread, my scroll is 2days old... firmware 1.02s basbuild 1.02s was on from factory, clockworkmod appears to install all correctley but when i hold in the vol Up button it just stays on the white scroll screen, i've tried adding /system/etc/install-recovery.sh(was missing from new) & /system/recover-from-boot.p but no luck, i've just tried to manually run install-recovery.sh from termainl but i get the following errors

contents of MTD partition "recovery" didn't match MTD:recover:blah blah, etc, etc lots of letters and numbers
file mtd:recovery doesnty have any expected shal sums; checking cache
failed to stat "/cache/saved.file" no such file or directory
failed to load cache.

Any Ideas?

Regards

Hi,
The issue with mine was described as DOA by the storage options support team and they advised to to get a replacement, which I did. My new one is fine, but it's fm v1.01 so not a direct comparison. Can you successfully do a factory reset from the software (it's in settings)? Mine couldn't do that either, which was the issue that confirmed the potential hardware fault and the need for the subsequent replacement...

Thanks,

Factory reset app runs, reboots and just pauses at the white scroll screen   , just curious if anybody can post me there /cache/saved.file and see if i can reload it that way.

Cheers
